Folk also say that with only a small portion of the files they have at IS, they make more at SS. I am not so sure. It's early days for me but at only 5 sales (total of $1.25) so far it isn't going to pay the bills. One image sale at IS is much more than this, even as nonexclusive. The jury is still out.
One nice touch at SS is the map telling you where the buyers are from. I like that.
This entire thread is disheartening. We all see things from such different perspectives -- and not totally unbiased perspectives.
I really like SS and am trying to build a decent portfolio. I've also been trying to build a portfolio at iS, much less successfully. I can not offer an unbiased opinion. I'm influenced by all the negative iS publicity. I'm not seeing the "much more than this, even as nonexclusive" sales at iS; my largest sale in the last month was 22 cents.
I am not and will not criticize anyone for being Exclusive at iS. It works for those who have expended the effort. That is what I find disheartening, Hergs. I hope Exclusives are not being overly influenced by all "the grass is greener" comments. I'm not so sure they are unbiased comments.
I think you may succeed as nonexclusive but you will have to start from where you were before being exclusive ... with even more intense effort than before.
Painful decision; glad I'm not having to make it.
PS: If what seems to be an effort by iS to push we lesser nonexclusive contributors to TS, I will decide to get out.
