Topic: Sales stopped after good sale- Coincidence?

Shutter stock is my best site.  I am still starting up in this stuff but I always seem to have 1-6 sales a day on this site.... even if they are only 25 cents each.  Sometimes I get no sales on a day but its becoming rarer.

On friday I had my first BIG (for me) enhanced sale of $28 for a file.  Whoopee!!

But now on Sat, Sun, Mon and this AM my sales have been 0?Huh

Is that a coincidence or is there any connection to my big sale??

Don't try to read too much into the stats, just the number at the end of the month counts:)
Sales on week ends are traditionally much lower than ones in weekdays so it explains a big drop.
Sales are also more consistent once you have a bigger portfolio

Best regards
L

All points here are correct.  You can't watch the numbers so closely and read too much into it or you'll go crazy.  And the larger your portfolio gets, the more you'll be able to notice actual trends.  But even though my portfolio has grown nicely (approx 750 pics after 13 months of tracking) I still fall into the trap of expecting a day to go a certain way and getting disappointed when it doesn't.  For instance, I had my best weekend ever this past Sat (27 SS downloads) and Sun (24 downloads) and expected to have a better than normal Monday, but it turned out well below average.  I try to just care about the monthly totals, and charted out those show a pretty straight and steady line upward, but I still have F5-itis and all the lunacy that brings.

I am sure SS have a team of people waiting for someone to have their first EL and stop all their sales.  Makes perfect sense to me Grin

Perhaps a more likely explanation is that a lot of people do their Christmas shopping on Friday's and Monday's in December.  Sales drop and if you don't have many per day, you might see more zero days.

New Age version: After getting an EL you think, "I don't need as many downloads now to make a payout" and voilà, you get less downloads because that thought has turned into a reality. Wink

The power of negative thinking!
