It's a bit of a disaster when the last site delivering consistent results goes offline. (I suppose that should be "consistently good" ... there are plenty of consistently bad ones).
SS posts over the past few weeks have a real overtone of deja vu.

Because any good technology company knows that the best time to upgrade a system is the middle of the day in the middle of the week. I'm calling BS on BS. Somebody crashed their servers. Maybe the developers that have been screwing up at SS finally wrote some code bad enough to bring down the house.

or they fired the ex-IS ITs ;D ;D ;D ;D

Because of this 2-hour gap (or however long it was) today's sales suffered a lot.

lost sales today and now the landlord is banging on my door asking for this month's rent. If only I could put them 'Off-Line'  :-\

So now that the site's back up, I get to see that the outage cost me a big chunk of sales. Unfortunately, it happened during the sweet spot for me, when European and U.S. sales overlap. I'm about 30% behind where I should be by this time of day.

My DLs suck today, but before the crash I bagged an EL and just now checked and had two more ODDs and a SOD. DLs are down, but if a bad day consists of a grand slam I guess its not too bad.

Yup, cut my sales practically in half. I think buyers saw the site was down and spent the rest of the day elsewhere.

make that bad week of sundays, since this is friday and already logging in is also screwed.
IT is truly remarkably effingup and showing us how good they are at screwing things up at ss.

For years, since the beginning there was no problem with SS website.  Now they went public, move into fancy offices, turn into bigshots, and their IT website reliability goes to sh*t.  This story is getting real familiar.  :(
