Is SS selling less and less since their price increase?
I used to make payout every month but now its stretching to every 2 months! 2008 has been a pretty poor shutterstock year!

Anyone else finding this?

Well, I cannot say so! Do you upload regularly?

not regularly enough, but the downloads have always been better than they have right now, regular uploads or not.

I upload regulary. The other day I uploaded 250 (got accepted about 200) in single batch, but didnt see any incease in downloads. 30-40 downloads per day...

I had about 80-110 downloads per day in April & May 2008 for example.

My statistics tell positive!

This graph represent relative (not absolute) "every day" sales without growing of my portfolio(more pics only gives more accurate pattern) .
Represent percentage measure No# sales/ No# pics in portfolio...

As You can see, we had bottom in August.

You expect DL's/image to contract over time as images inevitably age/die.  Probably a much better measure would be to look at how each new 100-200 submissions perform compared to previous submissions.

- What is their initial "pop" like?
- How often do they sell after the first month or so online

That would be decidedly difficult, and would requre some tedious record keeping.

My downloads are from about 40-50 a day down to about 25.... I used to upload 3 pics every day, but since they need now 2 or 3 days for review, I only upload new pics when the last batch is reviewed. But still I add new images 3 times a week...

Maybe I am not a "new" submitter anymore, since I am with SS for 18 month now. They seem not only to favourise new images but also new contributors. My friend, who joined them just a few month ago, has more downloads that I have - with a much smaler portfolio and not so regular uploads.

Maybe it is still the summer slow down?

The same with my and my referrals. They have much more DL's than me

Hey, can someone use my referral link and beat me in the number of sales? :)

I never managed to get any referrals on any of the sites I am in.... :( So I am a bit envious of people who talk about referrals...

I had one referral only for DT and that was it.

Excellent points. I would love to see those stats for my SS submissions, but I am far too lazy.

What I can say is that :
-I have been uploading to SS for years (have over 1000 vectors there)
-I upload every week
-My sales there were down for August from July, the first down month-over-month at SS in like forever.

I think ODs have something to do with it. But who knows?
