Topic: slow week at ss

It is a bit slow whole this week at SS for me. How about you?

I upload new images every 3-5 days, as always, but it gets slower and slower in sales...

I used to have over 100 dls in 1 day, but now, if I have 40 dls it is maximum. I am not happy with that. Have about 2500 images in portfolio.

this month is slower for me. the best month was the first one when I uploaded 600 images. I read somewhere that before uploading twice a month was good enough to sustain downloads, but now even once a week is not enough.

I thought that it was just me (and my iddy biddy port), granted Easter just happened, but about 2 weeks ago it just died.  A good pattern had been developing, slow on Sat, Sun, pick up a bit on Mon, good day Tue, peak on
Wed, Thur, slow down on Fri (about Mon levels), then start it over.  However 2 weeks ago at started usual (to Tuesday), then the midweek peak never happened and its been chugging along pretty slow ever since, less than half of the early part of the month.  Yesterday was encouraging though, not the best but still looks like it might be pulling out of the slump.  Didn't think that Easter would have such a huge effect, but it has been a trend across all sites, that things have slowed over the time period, for me at least.  I hope that next week the effects of Easter have completely passed and everything is back to where it was at the start of the month.

I do upload at least 1 photo a day to most sites, SS included, but strive for 3.

This week is soo slow I am getting just over weekend totals! I guess people have taken the whole week off. The other problem I have is that it dosen't seem to matter when I upload my image they get reviewed thursday night friday morning so they are live saturday and off the radar by monday! its happened the last 3 or 4 times!

I'm on line for BME.  So far I have a better average dl/day than any other month.  Smiley

SS seems to be affected by holidays more than other sites.  I would expect that any business watching their purse strings may not renew subscriptions on the week leading up to Easter and Christmas.  Even though Easter is only a 3 or 4 day weekend, people often take the following week off to make the most of their vacation time.  Why have a subscription running?   Just my guess.

I think that the stock photography business is still very young and will have to adapting many things in the future. One thing that my small portfolio can view before the big ones is the dilution effect. Adding more than 40 000 files a week doesn't make things better.

I can see that effect in what people say in the DT forum for example. DT search engine work in part whit a rotation system and even some of the big ones let know that they have to produce more to keep visibility than it was years before.

easily my BME on SS and DT this month and the last week has included my 3rd best day ever on SS and 3 of my 5 best on DT.  So I think it just fluctuates... yesterday they DL half my SS folio.  Today, not much.

I always wondered about this. SS has clearly a business customer base since you can watch downloads fluctuate during the time of day, according to business hours. The US West Coast buys the most. Little downloads in weekends.

Now if I would work for a company that subscribes to SS, and the quorum for the day was not used, I would take the user/pass home and download for personal use, like for framed art. Even more in the weekend.

BME all over or just SS?     Definitely not my BME all around, in fact, WME on a couple sites.   But it will be my BME on SS.  Why?  No clue, funny thing is I haven't been crazy about uploading this month to SS either, which is contrary to the usual need to feed the beast of SS to keep sales up.   Cool=tom

It will probably be a BME on SS, DT, BS, 123 and StockXpert. but IS has been down for months and last month on Fotolia I got 2x150$  and 2x 100$ Els and none at all this month so can't hope to get near last months figure.  It might be a bme overall but will probably my 2nd bme because of the 500$ less on FT.
