Shutterstock has announced that starting Monday, vector artists may begin to upload files saved back to EPS-10 format, and have increased the file size limit to 15 megabytes!

Do you guys have files saved on your hard drive that were too big to upload? Or wouldn't pass through because of the problems saving back to EPS-8 such as transparency and color profile problems? I'd like to hear your thoughts on it!

OK, I just read this, so I'm rewriting my post:

"We do plan to mandate Illustrator 10 compatibility in the near future, but during this transition period you may continue to submit Illustrator 8 files until further notice. We will alert you to the end of the transition period prior to implementing the change permanently."

I don't quite understand this. Are they saying they are going to reject Illustrator 8 files? Aren't they Illustrator 10 compatible too? I'll have to read more on the forum.

I hope the other sites choose this standard quickly or we will have to save the file in another standard  Sad. I wont be using transparencies at the start as I wont be able to save as illustrator 8 files and thus not be able to upload vectors to other sites. If they are making the move to illustrator 10 why not also allow you the option to upload in CS4?

Nooooo! I'm still using CS!!
Illustrator 10 is ok and Fotolia also take eps 10. The 15MB is fantastic news.

LOL no doubt! It's inevitable... but I hope to also see more quality artwork that wasn't possible due to the EPS-8 limitations and the 5mb limit! I love looking at new and exciting stuff, it inspires me to get that good!

Here's the latest response:

Hello:

Below are some noteworthy points that need to be clarified:

Vector Submissions

1) You may upload Vectors that are compatible with Illustrator 10.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do upload Illustrator 10 files, please add this keyword to each Illustrator 10 file: EPS10

2) We will continue to accept files that are compatible with Illustrator 8

3) With both Illustrator 8 and Illustrator 10 files you may submit with a new maximum limit of 15 MB.

4) The JPG Preview requirement stays exactly the same. Please continue submitting your low-res JPG previews along with your Vector files.

5) Current Illustrator 8 Vector files that are in your portfolio now will remain untouched. This change only affects the kind of file you upload to us and nothing else.

These new submission requirements will enable you to create the complex designs that you want to upload. Some of you should also experience less Color Profile & Transparency rejection issues, as examples.

Additional Note: We want to see the type of Illustrator 10 files you submit to us as well as the Illustrator 8 files that you are accustomed to submitting. Experiment. Be creative.

We thank you for submitting the quality work that you do and we look forward to reviewing your new Vector format files soon.

Sincerely,

Anthony Correia
