I noticed that many of my photos have the title and description field mixed up after the file is uploaded to SS. It's pretty crappy as it means even more work, especially in case of editorial content. Any tips regarding this?

Any tips? Fill in the fields manually from a text document you keep with each image.
Automated metadata is one of the reasons you will soon see 1 billion images and not sell anything.
It doesn't take many seconds per image, especially on a fast site like Shutterstock.

On every image uploaded to SS, I have to clear out all the titles (with description data) and manually copy the title from windows explorer into the field. It's a pain. Same with 123RF.

Shutterstock images don't have titles, only descriptions and keywords.

Yes, but my "title" data is more specific to the images I upload than the "description", so that's what I want on the page.

Well, if you want title data in the description field I guess you either write a script that switches the fields on multiple images before upload (quickest option) or you do it manually.

My titles are like:
Hospital: Male Doctor Holds Digital Tablet And Discusses Treatment With Patient
My description would be:
Image from a series set in a hospital with doctors and patients
So, in the sites that correctly use the title data as the main descriptor of the image and the description as secondary, it's fine.

Yes, but I meant create copies of the images with the metadata switched just for Shutterstock and you wouldn't have to manually change it.

Exactly that's what I mean.

We are making a combined title+description on Shutterstock (http://video-stock.org/fastest-way-to-prepare-metadata-for-shutterstock-stock-footage-agency/).
