Me too... that would be nice; but it raises the question, are we just seeing bad stats this month?  Or is it a disgruntled employee who is exiting with a really expensive joke on the company?  LOL I wouldn't get our hopes up.

This month's earnings were the worse I've had with Shutterstock since I started dedicating 40 hours a week to microstock production back in May of 2008.  I'm definitely done chasing this runaway train.  The thirsty artists can go nuts and keep producing... I just don't see the point anymore.  There are so many other better ways of making a living than working for below minimum wage.

Me, too. It would be awesome if it were a bonus, but I am prepared for the clawback any second now.  >:(

Same here. Even if it's an accounting mistake, they should at least share some part of the bonus with us, for moral damage :)

Yes - I did go back to look at April's numbers on site, just in case there was some huge mystery sale in the SOD column :) Sadly not.

Things have not been stable or functional in the last few months - does not speak well of their latest flavor of software VP...

After what Getty did to me I am expecting the next e-mail to say you earned $0.001!

I'm very happy for Shutterstock to double my April 2017 earnings, as it now matches almost to the cent, what I earned in April 2016.

Perhaps the 50% drop in revenue was all a big April Fool's day joke?

I Think that not only the individual revenue columns but also the column "Total sales" has been included in the calculation. A typical bug in a spreadsheet. Such a mistake would have brought me about $ 100,000 a few years ago if I had not pointed out. At that time I thought about 2 minutes before I pointed out the mistake. With today's sum it is not worthwhile for me to think about it, it is too small. For Shutterstock, however, assuming 100,000 bills in an estimated average $ 100 ... ... ...  $ 10 millions. Not so bad - but bad for the developer of the spreadsheet  :'(.

Just received a second email with the correct amount.

Nothing in the text to point out that the earlier email was in error, or an apology or link to the discussion of the problem in the forums.

Yep, clawback complete.

That was quick, I was not even happily surprised with the initial email as I quickly saw that was precisely 2x the earnings.  I expect them to send an apology email of some kind besides the current corrected numbers as that is automated message.

I like Shutterstock and understand this error as something that happens more often than not in payrolls of even larger corporations "from experience".

BTW for those of you who went to the travel sites to plan a Fiji shoot vacation right after the email; I'm really sorry  :D

I have received 2 emails: one for the normal amount and one for the double.
So three times what I should get!

3X what I got last month will bring me back up to the good old days. woo yay (if only it were true)

They really should have taken another 2 or 3 minutes to include an explanation of why the first e-mail was wrong and that the second one was the correct amount and all we would get.

The second email adds to the first one, so the sum is triple :)

It's not exactly double in our case... and if this new earnings would be more appropriate, because April was very disappointing. Other sites had to save overall income.

The first amount is alarmingly small. The second amount looks nearer the mark. If the first amount is right then I'm out of the game.

So my sales for April amount to $115.19

I get the email saying I'm being paid $230.38

And then a few hours later I get the new one saying it actually be $115.19. Seems like what everyone else is experiencing, no mystery there, not to worry.

However... my sales for May so far, are $11.70. I then head to the pub, get drunk, chill out, play pool etc etc... and I get back and my balance for May is $116.70.

I've never had such a big jump, or made $105 in a six hour period... so I'm wondering if this is related (it's kind of close to the $115.19 amount), whether I'm imagining it, or if it's some kind of error. Anyone else experience the same?! Thanks!

Edit: Ok, I managed to dig through the ultra-intuitive and amazingly straightforward sales pages and it looks like I sold one clip today for $105. Could be a figment of my imagination, but it's looking pretty real for now. Happy days!

They have an app for contributors which is good for simple sales info.

I noticed the wrong calculation in the email on May 3 and opened a ticket at Shutterstock's support site. A few hours later they answered:

Quote
Thank you for contacting Shutterstock Support.
On May 3, we sent a Shutterstock Payment email that listed an incorrect Total Payout Amount. The amount shown is double what you will actually receive.
A corrected email will be issued, and will display the proper amount.
This error is in the email only, and you will receive the correct amount when payouts are issued.
Thank you for your patience.
Thanks,
Shutterstock Contributor Support Team

I opened a ticket and got the same canned response. I asked them to explain how such an error could occur and also if they planned to apologise to contributors. I received no response.

Mistakes happen, and they adjusted it fairly quickly. I don't care about an apology, i just want them to transfer my money NOW...that would be a show of thanks on their part.

Maybe it's April Fool's? No it can't be - it's not April anymore.
