See, not only can you earn tons of money with this site but its an effective place and quick in reactions.

I uploaded 12 shots day before yesterday, 4 shots came back with some focal-point problems, thats quick editing!!  I sent the 4 shots back yesterday with some explanation and just within 4 hours, the shots were edited and included in the files.

Talk about quick and effective reviewing!!

Sure! its easy to nitpick problems with all sites, really,  but for realiablillity, efficiency and yes, even revenue,  I know where I put my hat.

Nice to read something positive for a change ;D
I've never had any problems with them and they continue to sell better than any other site for me so I'll just continue to stick around there
Would you mind giving a bit more detail about the focus problem and how you explained it?

Hi!

Files were of technology, Aerospace-rocket-parts, and for best results, a shallow depth of field made them more effective, rather then everything being in sharpness. On a second review, the editor must have felt the same.

I have to say though, reviewing at Shutterstock, is tough and so it should be,  gone are the days of the diletants and to the first reviewers defence, I have to say that these sort of technology-files I uploaded and the same with medical and surgery, etc. No!  they are not easy to review,  its not exactly as if you get a landscape in front of your eyes.

My point is: SS, is prepared no negotiate!! which is a hell of a lot more then some others I could mention,  not set in stone.

Shutterstock is top notch in all aspects, I rarely have a problem over there and if it is, it's really a minor one (usually a rejection for a file or two that I know is good and also got through at the other agencies). I'm getting my files reviewed within hours lately, which is lovely since I have tons of new material to upload.

A raise at the end of they year would make me praise them;)

No argument here.  SS is super fast and (in my case at least) fair in their reviews.  It's very rewarding to see images get accepted and start to sell within a day or so of uploading.    All around well run site.

September will mark my 6th year anniversary with Shutterstock and the beginning of my microstock journey.  Not once have I had a problem with them, unlike most of the other sites.

I was recently surprised to receive an unexpected phone call from Anthony at SS, who called for no other reason than to inform me about the new BigStock pricing about a week before it was widely announced to contributors.  Not only that, he had emailed me first on a Friday asking me to call (which I didn't see), and then called first thing Monday morning to follow-up after not hearing from me.  Just to tell me about the new pricing.  Name one site out there who does that...just one!  Why he called me specifically, I have no idea...but I sure did appreciate the head's up.

Frankly it is an annoying waste of time to have images rejected that should not be.

I don't get many rejections.  However I have quite a few friends who produce stunning/superior commercially relevant content and they are experiencing 80% to 90% rejection for batchs they submit. I rarely resubmit because I usually agree with the reviewer.  However lately the reviews have become so inconsistent and bizarre that I have resubmitted the last few images that were rejected.

I also find the significant difference between review outcomes for submitters disturbing.  It is hard to feel good about getting your images accepted when you know that several of your friends have been experiencing longs streaks of rejections after submitting content that is superior to your own.

Thanx for the reply Lagereek. I agree that they are willing to negotiate which is really nice and I'm not too upset with the recent rejection mania...that's just the way it goes so get used to it and get on with it.

It always surprises me that anyone who has their work on a particular site would praise it in such a way. If I'm doing well I like to keep it quiet. You may just be enticing someone away from other sites who may compete directly with you.

Everyone who is independent is already on Shutterstock.  It's the top selling agency.  They aren't exactly a secret.  ;)

It's the top selling agency.

Is that the case? What does that mean? I'm not being sarcastic here, I'm keen to know.

thats the last of my worries, believe me.  Why shouldnt we praise now and then and give credit where its due? why?  theres so much negativity anyway, its almost come to the stage where a positive thread makes you keel over and snuff it.

besides as Lisa says, do you really believe there is anybody in the photo-game and on a global scale that doesnt know the potential of SS ?  I mean come on.

It means that IS's sales are pathetic compared to Shutterstock's ;)

it means that they can do what they want when they want, no matter if this bothers the contributors
