Just read a thread where 3 x -1 was awarded to 3 posts (2 people), where they where in mere discussion, trying to establish what the OP's problem was. Now you might say that that is only my opinion that they did not deserve the treatment and that whoever gave the -1's had the full right to decide that he/she did not like the posts. Which is probably right, as I had the right to change them back with +1's again.

I am just afraid that the little down button might change into a vendetta thing, just marking people down a person do not like.

Does the -1 actually get deducted from a persons hearts count Leaf?

I personally think that the -1 is a nice feature in responsible grownup's hands, but unfortunately it is not only them using it on the site. What do you think?

<sigh> I think we should appoint you as our Editor-In-Chief to decide who should and who should not give pluses and minuses, and when, according to how you personally feel about any issue. Would that make you feel better? If so I'll start a poll so we can vote for you __ or not.

Btw, no, minus points do not subtract from your Heart collection. Get over it, it's really not important, let's just discuss the subject of the threads and stop worrying about it.

I'm not a fan of the -1 button, but I will admit to having used it.  Don't care a whole lot whether it goes or stays.

I am glad to hear it doesn't take away from the hearts collection.  I thought it did.   Even though it's silly, I do like getting the hearts :)

I would rather see it AND the heart button at the same time = i,e. 5 likes 18 dislikes rather than -1 + 1 = 0

The minuses don't contribute to your overall total.

I agree pixart. It would be better to se how many of each vote there is. I'll try and code that in the new year. It isn't an option by default.

And still, only YOU allowed to have an opinion on the forums? Maybe you should start your own forum, where only you can post and you can decide which posts are WORTHY by ALL to be reacted to:
Who really cares about the odd rejection or Istock's absurd CV anyway?
(from RacePhoto's thread)
and
Get over it, it's really not important, let's just discuss the subject of the threads and stop worrying about it.
It seems like another position has been filled: Content Worthiness Reviewer.  I am sure it will give you the obviously much needed power and authority. <sigh>

[You do not care about these threads, yet you have to post in all of them  ::)]

Sounds like a great idea. Thank you Leaf for looking into it. Will not stop the personal attacks scenario, but will add a lot of extra transparency.

Nice to see a positive result coming from what "some" might classify as another worthless thread  ;)

... Also, The negative votes you were referring to in that one thread were not voted by one troll voter but rather the two people who posted and simply disagreed with eacother.

Point taken. Still the question remained if it is open for misuse. Thank you for your earlier reply, to make it more transparent.

Great idea Lorraine!  You get a heart from me for this one :)

Thanks for looking into implementing it Tyler!

One vote per person right? How would a troll vote more? Oh maybe you shouldn't answer, it might give people ideas.  :D

But we only get one vote right?

perhaps it would be better that we only had a set number of + & -'s to hand out? then they might be used more wisely.
although that would also stop us freely sharing the love, which is not a good thing.

In my house now we have a new habit of saying "minus 1" when ppl do things wrong, but it's pretty tongue in cheek.

I think it would be nice if we could think of a different graphic that wasn't so 'downish'.  The "-" is simply to say you disagree, nothing more nefarious than that... often it is seen as an attack.  We should be able to receive a minus without needing to feel attacked.  We need an icon that symbolizes disagree.

I'm not sure that is possible. Many people feel attacked the second someone doesn't say "wow great idea". Like GWB said "you are with us or against us".

I agree, curious that we don't have it on FB

there's a lot of people wishing there was a "dislike" button on fb though.

I can't believe people are being so sensitive about a plus or minus symbol! No one in your lives has disagreed with you before? For gosh sakes, you don't even have to confront people face to face! We have had the ignore feature for a long time. Leaf took away the feature where we could see how many people ignored us, probably somebody's feelings were hurt over that. I wore that like a badge of honor! Grow some skin, people!

I see the symbols have changed to a up and down arrow. That's cool, too.

no, that's just a caching issue after the little update.  The hearts will be back soon.

Better still IMO if there was a dislike button FOR fb.

I was actually pleased when I got a couple of negatives on a post I wrote as it made me think twice before I post, about how things can be taken in a way you didn't mean them to.
