Thanks for working the deal out.

I am a big B&H fan, but this discount might turn the tide (at least for my next order).

What if the item we want to purchase (5DMkII hint hint) is not in stock in time for the deal?

Yeah I dunno but this would be a good thing to find out. There are probably a few of us in that situation

Might have to head down the street to B&H!  ;)

The trip to B&H is definitely worth it ... it's quite the store!

You need to be aware that it's run/owned by Hassidic Jews, and they strictly adhere to established customs/traditions/holidays. To wit:

I have been a customer of B&H for about 20 years (back when they were down the block from Adorama).  IMO, B&H and Adorama are some of the classiest businesses out there.

Unfortunately, I have never been to the new B&H store.  I hear that it is pretty impressive.

Are they shipping to Europe ( can't find on site) and if so will charges make it worthwhile for us?

yes, they ship to Europe and as far as I can tell they also accept paypal, which is good for european microstock photographers because they dont have to get they money changed at the poor paypal exchange rate.

I suppose it depends on where ou live, but i know buying in the states, and paying shipping is a lot cheaper for me than buying in Norway.

Have found out the answer to this...

Your purchase is locked in at the time you go through the checkout so even if the item is back ordered you will still receive the discount.

You can't even shop online with them during Sabbath.

Some history background: they have originally come to Brazil with the Dutch that settled in the Northeast in the 18th century (the oldest synagogue in the Americas is in Brazil, now a Jewish museum), then they moved to "New Amsterdam" a few years later.  Hadn't they moved, we would have B&H here in Brazil.  ;D

Adelaide

I pre ordered the 5dII a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone else who pre ordered been asked to fax a copy of their credit card statement? I have not faxed it yet because I am not very happy about it. Is this normal business practice in the US? I have never been asked to do this before.

and I assume just one week to go before the long waited  cameras gets their places on the shelves in the US and Europe . I so look forward to seeing real sample images from real users. I'll have to wait just  a little longer to try it myself. getting soooooo exciting.

Have you been to the newly refurbished Adorama store, yet? (approx triple the size, now)

Helen:

No, I haven't.  I used to frequent your store (and B&H) when I lived in the city (which was over 15 years ago).  I have since moved far away from the city and have not had a chance to see the new stores.  I'm glad to see that the both of you are growing, you both deserve it.

But I already went through the checkout?? My CC will be charged the momemnt the item is shipped, so I do not see how the discount can be applied?

looks like there will be delay in expected arrival time, which was early nov,
quoted from Helen's post on canonrumors.com

I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that may have been caused.
At Adorama we were initially informed - by Canon - that delivery was expected 27th October, and based our subsequent information to customers on this.

I am unable to comment upon what information was given to other retailers at any point during the past months.

However, as you are all now aware, Canon revised these estimates.

That is right.  You will only get the discount when you go through checkout, so items that have allready been ordered will not receive any discount.

I apologize for not responding earlier - somehow I missed your posting. I hope that by now you have received your order, however, I wanted to explain: if you are placing a first time order with Adorama, and the delivery address you request is not the same as the address to which your card is registered, we are required by our banks to request additional verification for security purposes. This protects Adorama, the bank - and most importantly, genuine customers from potential fraudulent transactions from being carried out on a customer's card.

We do appreciate the inconvenience - and sadly, you may begin to see more merchants having to adopt the same or similar procedures as time goes on.

If there is still a delay with processing your order, please get in touch with me, with your order number: [email protected]

Sincerely

Hi Helen,

Thanks for replying. The delivery address is the same as my credit card address, that is why I am so puzzled. Fred also asked for a copy of my credit card, but there is no way I am transmitting that. I have sent my credit card details, but have heard no more.
I hope I am going to get a camera eventually!
