do you consider speed in review helpful/destructive ? which one is fast?
based on your experience, which site reviews the submission fastest.

Fotolia is the fastest for me BY FAR. When I am regularly submitting I can push 150-200 a night there and they're reviewed by the time I wake up in the morning.

When I was starting out, I thought that speed = bad because FT rejected a lot of my stuff. This month I think Fotolia has added almost 800 of my images with 85% or higher accept rate so no, speed doesn't hurt but shooting iffy photos does.

in agreement with mantonino. Fotolia is certainly the fastest. Whatever rejections I don't grumble because the reasons are there. It's not fudging around with letting you guess what to correct and resubmit, like you know who Wink

Speed helps in the sense that it gets your portfolio up and running faster. And for timely images, you hate to be sitting for some images only to see it approved a week or sometimes a day before the festivity/season/etc. So you wait till next year comes around. Whoopee ! Wish some reviewers would stop bringing their beer to work, and get the review up ASAP, don't you agree?
Another quick notable is definitely Stockxpert. Not as fast as FT but not as in stupor as IS Cool

P.S.
If it sounds like I 'm not keen on IStock (who is? )... sorry, like FD, I'm really not into Proctology

Fotolia and stockxpert are by far the fastest but I only feel that istock give you a genuine reason for rejection. They are the only site where you get the feeling that they actually properly review the file and not just just it a quick over and say no lol. Its a shame sometimes reviews can take a week but thats the popularity of stock photography now

Stockxpert by far, sometimes even within a few minutes.
Fotolia can be fast also if an image has been sitting in the unfinished state for a while.

Do you find the delay is a disadvantage at all?

StockXpert, FT, for sure. But you already know that from the others before me.
Being slow does not bother me more than just being left in suspension. Alamy and DT are not overnight approvals (or rejections), but at least they give you a time frame, like PhotoShelter used to be good for that too. Then again, I like Alamy because even when you get a 35hr timeframe, it get reviewed way before that.
Now, that's being nice and considerate.

Delay DEFINITELY destructive. You shoot these images and you were clean shaven, you don't want to have them reviewed way after you wearing beard. Like waiting for your stock (bad pun) to be displayed for sale, by that time all mouldy cheese due to some tardy review system. DEFINITELY DESTRUCTIVE
AND INSENSITIVE TO THE CONTRIBUTORS. Wink

I honestly don't care about review times anymore, unless they go over a month. There is no point wasting time thinking about it, as I can't make sites work quicker. If I want to see my photos online quickly, I upload them to mostphotos, nobody can ever beat their review time.

In general I don't care about the review time. Placement in search engine; visibility of my new images to buyers - that's the only thing that matters.

Review time was only important for me in the beginning when I uploaded very few images per month and watch the performance of each

For me StockXpert is the fastest and, except for "we don't need this type of image", I think their rejection reasons are generally fair. IS and DT take quite a long time - about a week.

The problem with time is more when you upload seasonal images. IS rejected some for keywords - and RIGHT keywords (photos of a candle, they rejected "candle" - stuff like that, thoroughly discussed in another thread). Scanstock took about a month to review some of my New Year's images - one was actually approved only in January. It was my fault to upload them so late, but nevertheless it is a pity they do that.

Of course, it is also a problem in any delay that you could have started selling that image earlier, but then the loss is small in the long turn.

you also mentioned about perharps you should have submitted earlier. but then again, it's not easy for us to say, find pumpkins and scarecrows in february, (it's snowing here in feb), and who can find someone wearing a santa claus suit in summer. well, maybe we could, but they probably lock him up in a madhouse if they find him walking in a santa suit down the park ringing a bell in the heat of summer . lol.
and rejection due to keywords? wow, another interesting issue.
