Title: Is anyone else having issues with the forum?
Post by: chromaco on November 22, 2013, 10:35
Starting yesterday I am no longer being directed to unread posts. Instead I am being sent to the top of the current page regardless of whether I have read those posts or not. Previously I would select the "home" button and then look for bold topics. After clicking the topic it would redirect me to the unread posts and bypass the read ones. This is no longer happening. Same on my home laptop, ipad, and work computer.
Anyone else?

The way you describe your workflow is pretty much what I do, and it's working OK for me this morning

Yes it is not going to the new post and skipping my read posts most of the time. Goes to the top and I scroll to find where I left off.

Yep, same here.  Desktop and mobile.

I'm in Colorado, I believe Sean is in Missouri. Maybe a server issue?

I'm getting automatic subscriptions to the topics I reply to now. That's new. And annoying.

It is. I just found the place to turn it off in my profile. I'm guessing this was a result of the updates yesterday that Leaf mentioned in the thread about Tapatalk breaking?

I'm not noticing anything different.

Me also and I could do without it as well.

OK. Now, I just got one of those auto-notifications. Teaches me to open my big mouth.

I'm having the exact same issue as Chromaco described in his original post; everything's getting re-directed to the top of the current page for any given thread.  Then I have to scroll down to find the most recent posts.

I saw this and turned them off after the first response. However my e-mail is still blowing up and I am getting one every time someone responds to this thread. Maybe I will just have to deal with it for this thread and it will stop with any new ones.

The email has an unsubscribe link. That seemed to work.

On that same page where you can turn off the preference, you have a list of things you already subscribed to. You can uncheck them all and hit update/apply/whatever it says and get rid of things you unknowingly subscribed to while the preference was set

Yep, it should be on that page.  Make sure this line is unchecked
"Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic."

I can't understand why the links are working for some people and not others but I'll take a look at it.  I know it is very annoying not being sent to the last unread post.

I just found the little box for attachments that says "Notify me of replies" when I went to respond. I bet thats it. Is that new?

no, i don't think it is new.. but I'm not entirely sure where you are talking about

Can someone who is having problems with the links on the front page not linking to the unread posts send me a few of those link or post them in the thread.  Just copy and paste what you are getting linked to.  Perhaps that will help me find the bug or whatever the problem is.

It's ok for me now, but for most of the week I wasn't seeing any updates at all.  Seems fine now.

Thanks
BTW the check box is when you post, it's right below the posting window with a little plus sign. After I unchecked it I stopped getting the e-mails. I never even knew it was there.

I'm suddnly getting these emails, but can't see any checkbox other than the + for 'attachments and other options'
Oh, right, you click on the + sign and 'notify me of replies' appears.
Tx.

It seems you have to tick the box with every single reply you make.
Can this be changed, please, Leaf? Tx.

Read comment 11 but it still would have to be turned of manually for the threads it was enabled on.

sorry - i have been playing with the settings.  I didn't mean to turn on all the notifications.  I think I've fixed it and set it back to where it was before.  Let me know if you are still experiencing problems with auto emails when you reply to a thread.

The problem with the links on the front page not redirecting to the correct post - I still have to look at that.

I'm still getting auto-emails, but probably they were threads I replied to before your change rather than new ones.

I looked at your account settings and you it looks like you shouldn't be auto-subscribing to any threads.  You can always view your own settings here and change them if you like.  You can also easily unsubscribe to any/all threads on this page

Ok.. I'm assuming this is still causing people problems?  Are the topics you have read non-bold? .. or are all the topics on the front page bold?

I'm trying to recreate the problem somehow from my end but I'm not sure quite how to do it....

Are you confirming that I shouldn't be getting notifications? As far as I can see, both checkboxes are blank, but I had several notifications when I logged into my emails this a.m.

I can see that you are (were) subscribed to a few threads.  You can see which threads you are subscribed to on this page (http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?action=profile;area=notification)  I've unsubscribed you to all the threads manually just now so starting now you shouldn't get any emails.

Automatically going to the new post in a thread still isn't working.  It just goes to the top of the newest page.

The good news: the forum's working fine for me in both FF and Chrome.  The bad news: the forum is not working in Safari (goes to the top of the current page instead of the last post).  This is happening on both my desktop and iPad.  Hope this helps.
