Leaf and Kngkyle have both posted logo ideas at http://www.microstockgroup.com/index.php?topic=6862.30

While both are good, I am curious to see which one everyone thinks would suit microstockgroup.com better.  I hope I'm not stepping out of line by doing this.

Remember, it is ultimately up to Leaf what he uses as a logo!  This poll is for curiousity sakes.
(Plus this is the first poll I've done here and wanted to try one! ;D)

Leaf's Logos are Orange

edit: edited to add another logo

I like the blue colors more, but I think Kingkyle's logo has very small text that is difficult to read.

I actually prefer the orange and I like the gradient, but not crazy about the vertical text in the middle.

the size can be adjusted.  You see how large the orange logo looks on the top now.....
so don't take size into consideration.

yeah, thanks for starting the poll dragon fang I am interested too

and, if anyone else wants to get in the running feel free to submit a logo :)

quite frankly I don't like either in their current form.

Particularly I dislike vertical text in the orange one; small letters in the blue; too much text in the blue

It might help if the blue one was adjusted slightly.....

Upsize the text that states "micro stockgroup.com"

....  And skip the rest of the text. IMHO this will make this logo GREAT

Orange color is more aggressive, that's why I like it. Blue is more elegant, but it's not very eye catchy. But I don't like vertical text too much, and I like more the format of blue logo. I would replace "m" in orange logo with "" because "" means micro, and "m" means milli (1/1000)

yes but M stands for microstock ...

I made a new logo which i think i like better, and have added it to the pole

Those who don't like the small text on kngkyle's logo - make sure you click on it to view the larger version.

epantha's version is close and actually quite good  ;D

But I have to agree with whitechild about the orange color, and then I would really like to see the Kngkyle logo transformed into orange and with text upsized and without all the small unnessesary elements...   ::)

MsG reminds on Ms. G or MSG - food additive. I like the dragon_fang's one.

In any case, I will look for you at the convention leaf, to get one of these cards from you :)

The text size and orientation would of course need to be changed for the different uses. The version of mine posted was designed for a business card, might even been too small for that actually.  :-X

The colors are nice, but the meaning will be lost for the vast majority of people who see it. It would be more appropriate for a science related web site perhaps. I fear poor Leaf would spend half his time explaining the logo rather than sharing information about what goes on here.  ;)

Right you are! I agree it probably would be a problem as many people don't know what that symbol means.  Anyways here is an orange version....

This one is by far my favorite.  Nice work Kyle!

FWIW the reason I prefer the orange is because it is eye-catching and upbeat.  Sort of the color of zeal or enthusiasm (if they had a color).

Oh, I think it's great with orange. Just, there are people who are color blind, and orange and green is not the best combination, because this is most frequent case of color blindness (red-green). Again, I don't know for sure how those people see exactly this combination Dragon fang used

That is too funny!  I am red-green color blind and had to pick some color variations I could see together.  These ones I could see fine, so that's what I used.

With some of the other shades I found the colors were blending together, even though they are not similar.

Here are a couple quick ideas.

For me it's the best till now since the concepts 'group' and 'camera' are on there. The other ones missed that. I hate orange for logos but in this case it's mostly white so the orange attracts attention and stresses it's not a corporate blue thing but a warm group of people. Can't change my vote now but I prefer whatalife's.

I used to have quite a lot of problems getting poor acceptance ratios due to color balance and such.  I actually started a thread back in march about this.  I have followed some tips and think I am much better now.  (Of course using strobes nowadays helps compared to 500 watt work lights) :D

I like Whatalife's logo too, especially the bottom one, but I guess the idea of "film" in photography is a bit outdated by now.  In the first one, maybe a shutter iris would be better, or is it too beaten?  Is just that the camera looks a P&S ratherthan a DSLR.   ;D

MSG is an ingredient, Monosodium glutamate, and the name (logo) of an 80"s-90"s hard rock band, "Michael Schenker Group" http://www.michaelschenkerhimself.com/home.php and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Schenker - so the MSG just doesn't work for me at all. The text below MSG is just too, too, small can't read it, totally useless. The blue logo to me looks more professional however, again the small text is unreadable. The camera logo is too much like the istock logo. Just my opinion.

Really? Here's the istock logo for comparison. They both have a camera in them. Maybe that's what you mean?

Anyway, it's no biggie. ;) I thought I'd just suggest using a logo that reflects on what the forum is about, but maybe the text is sufficient. Makes no difference to me.

hmmm, maybe there should be a prize for the logo that get's used

perhaps a 1 year premium membership  :)
maybe that is a cheap prize... ok, i know
1 year premium membership + 1 month advertising in a free spot on MSG.  If you don't have anything to advertise, you can use a referral link.

The winner will be declared by my choice and the popular vote... the 'contest' is just for fun and is nothing official (ie there are no rules)  and is mostly a thanks for the logo that gets picked!! I will pick a winner soon as I need to get the business cards printed.

Voted for 'Leaf's Logo with vertical 'stock' lettering'. While I like kngkyle's logo very much, I think there are too many letters for it to be real 'logo' as I understand it. The logo has to be more a graphical shape than just words and the Leaf's one is the only one that meets this.

I think however, that given the abilities of people here, much better logo in the sense of graphical shape could be crafted...

Just my opinion though, and I'm not even a premium member :].

The blue is more professional, think IBM. However the orange square catches the eye better and stands out.

In the end, don't people say MSG is bad for you?  :P

The orange one is more of a "logo" that says very little else. (no complaints, that's what a logo does!) The name in the blue one above, tells more of a story. I guess it depends on what the motivation is for the logo. Oh yes, the square fits more places in any page setup, Horizontal or Vertical, just because it's square...

Keep in mind, I'm not a designer, never will be.

What a mess of a voting system this is now. lol Go figure, I had to be the one to start it.  :D  In order for this voting system to work properly, I believe that if we have all the "entries", that they should all be listed properly and together and the poll be reset so everyone can vote once for their favorite.

Some people already voted and can't vote again for a different logo they think is better.  I would reset the poll and try to fix it, but others may not agree, so it will stand as is.
