Any chance of making the old style layout an option on a per person basis? I liked how all the threads were in one place rather than having to pick through different sections.

Yes it is. Is it the old style for everyone or can people choose which style they like better?

old style is for everyone. I am trying to get a new (better) style working. It will no doubt have the last current 30 or so threads on the front page though. I think it is a pain with forums that don't have that.
