(but this not so big)

I like the first one. But I think the typeface looks dated.

I like the last one.

But I also agree: the typeface should be changed.

Oh boy, we (collectively, me included) sure don't do any kind of change well do we?

I think perhaps I'll just have to take all the suggestions and rotate to a new logo every day ;)

It is better now. More readable, more fresh.

But there is some bad spacing between the letters (kerning)
in "micro" m and c should be a little closer to the i, and the o closer to the r (I speak of tenths of points)
in "stock" there is too much space between o and c
the p of "group" seems to go away

The gray line around the orange create a bad anti-aliasing effect.

And yes the font is a little old for my taste, but as I am crazy about DIN and DIN Round Pro my judgment about font is not very objective.

gr8.. but I will never recommend this logo.. as an artist perspective this is not good... the font is very common. Also the idea is good but could be done more better.

sry for being so direct... its good effort, but I didn't liked the logo.

there was a contest, those of you who are complaining could have submitted options months ago. Tyler clearly likes his orange and the font (or typeface or typography, depending on how pedantic and hipster you wish to appear). It's his space; do you openly criticise the furnishings in your friend's house? Ouch! it's harsh here, even within the community. It's not my cup of tea either, but i like the change.

thanks for the thoughts and replies guys.  I'm not expecting everyone to like it (impossible)... personally I think it's a significant improvement over what it was so it'll be staying for now.  Like gillian (and others) have said, the logo is a product of a 99designs contest (which was also announced here for entries) and I felt it was the best option (and there was a thread here asking for votes on which was the best as well) ... and most of all, it's a nice to have a change.  I'm not a designer so letter spacing (kerning) isn't my forte.. I'll take Beppe Grillo's advice though and make a few small changes.

It is a new, fresh look and I like it.  Certainly are many other ways you could do it, but I feel like I'm on a new site.  It's refreshing and I doubt it will detract anyone from signing up.

Didn't want to open this can of worms, but here we go...

I saw the contest, but I won't enter anything on 99designs. There was a time when I might, and did, but not anymore. It's not a good venue for designers or clients. I can't support that site.

And I'm not saying I'm opposed to doing free work or spec work. There is a time and a place for that stuff, and I'll do spec work today if I think it is a good opportunity. And I'll occasionally do free work for someone who I think is deserving of it, Tyler being one of those people. If they ask.

I know that wouldn't have worked here, the minute Tyler asked for logo designs he would have been hit with the usual anti-spec cries. But he could have privately reached out to some of the folks right here on this very forum who are very capable logo designers and asked for thoughts on how to do this, or even help in getting it done.

So in short, no I couldn't have submitted something because there was no opportunity for me to do so.

Yes, I agree openly criticism is not good.
But let me make it clear that I am not criticizing anyone here neither am I saying anything harsh. Its an opinion dear. You can take it as either way.
Any logo for any company is the most important thing as it stays for years and even many decades.
I do like the effort but this could be made more good.

I didn't knew when the contest was open. I am currently over packed with my work else I would have surely designed one for the community.

+1 for EmberMike

99designs or any crowdsourcing works are no good for designers.
What is Spec Work?

I oppose it and have never ever entered such contest.

Unfortunately not everybody could be free at this time to participate to the contest (personally I was not, and I regret because I love to project logos).
To project a logo is not something that you can do in 10 minutes. You need time to project and realize a good logo.

I agree that it is always easy to criticize once things have been done.
But at least somebody did it (criticize) trying to give some suggestions

And in any way I agree with EmberMike  (I won't enter anything on 99designs) +1 to him
