Title: capture one pro 5
Post by: diego_cervo on October 29, 2009, 20:23
hi all,
phase one just release capture one pro 5. The trial is available for download.
Even though it's night here in milan I couldn't resist to try it out....there are some nice improvement, such as RGB curves and the new "skin tone enhancer" which is definitely more precise than the old Advanced Color Editor when dealing with skins.
Nice to see a tool like focus mask which speeds up a bit the selection process.

cheers,
diego

So whats big deal is with it?
You can do it with masking individulal chanels as mask and then release this mask.
I do it in photoshop No 6 which I give with scanner and it is OK.
Mostly I make selection with basic gradient options in alfa chanel for some improvements.
If some one wants option "Make It GooD" mabe is OK, I didnt try yet maybe after haloween...
Next year precisely  ;D

Not find any good link for this but I think its no think to must have now (without burning wood in you ass)

Thanks, Diego! I read about it here first.. As far as i can see its a whole new purchase and not a free uprade, right?

The focus mask looks handy! Capture One crashes often for me with anywhere between 500-4000 RAWs loaded, i hope they've worked out some of the performance issues there..

You're welcome.  :) and yes....unfortunately it's not a free upgrade...
I had the same problem with 4.8.3, which used to crash very often. Hope this version works better. Still have to test it better but I'm sure that the focus mask will help also when shooting tethered as I use to do. If the green mask is on model's eyes, than it's ok!!

By the way, congrats for having been selected photographer of the week on istock last week. ;)

Thanks, D ;)

I was working on some files and turned on the focus mask. It shows only her hair as sharp in all the images... Its weird, becuase it doesn't make sense only the hair is sharp here.

Just downloaded the trial version. Always wanted to try out Capture One cause many people had only praise for the software. Right now, I'm completely satisfied with DPP but if C1 proves to be better might change my work flow.Hope it's not very difficult to learn. Thanks for posting it.

The focusmask doesn't work with JPEGs that's odd.

Just use Lightroom instead...you can manage as well as process RAW files...

Thanks but what I don't like with Lightroom that I can't browse through Folder Architecture. So I really don't like Lightroom. I will stick with ACDSee.
