I am currently using Photoshop Elements 2 which came with my 20D.  E2 has no Raw converter.  I am not sure which Elements version has a raw converter but E5 definately does.

As I shoot in Raw and would like to simplify my workflow, I am considering getting either E5 (cheap) or the new CS3 (very expensive).

After answering the poll, the question I actually want answered is, is Elements 5 enough for me or should I invest in CS3?

CJPhoto, isnt CS2 or CS cheaper and they should be better than E5. Here is a link which might help you in your decision. It is about E5 and CS2, but I guess there is not so much difference to CS3 or is there?http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshop/f/elementscompare.htm

Since I have E2 too, my question is, is it worth the money to invest in CS2 if lets say you monthly income on Mircrostock is between 500 and 1000$ and you spend about 5 hours a week on Photoshop.

Where?

I am in a similar position to you.  I am also factoring in using CS3 in a personal capacity too so not just for microstock.  I am quite interested in trying HDR and making my personal pictures look better.

HDR is awesome, however, there are cheaper software options than CS2/3 if HDR capability is your motivation for upgrading. I took a free trial and loved playing around with HDR, however, I am not sure how accepted HDR manipulations are to the micros, but its a heck of a lot of fun :-)

One software package that was forgotten in the poll was PaintShop Pro.  I used it for years and years until recently, since I couldn't afford PhotoShop.  It can do almost everything that PhotoShop can do, but I find PaintShop easier to work with and MUCH MUCH FASTER.

How much longer does that run for? Cant be much longer?  That also means you had CS2 or CS aswell (otherwise the beta only lasts 2 days I think?

From UK or NZ so dont qualify for the $299 upgrade offer.  They seem to give good offers to the US.  Note the petition for equal pricing for CS3 in Europe.

I use PSP7.

I have Corel PSP10 at work, but didn't get used to it - I don't use it that often - but it's quite different from PSP7 and sometimes it take me time to find certain tools.  I suppose it's more PS-like.

Adelaide
