handling 1G file size in windows 7

Hi all,

I had joined a few images as panorama and resulted in a 1.06G tiff.

I realise that the windows explorer had problem to handle it, takes forever to open the folder with the file, and it is always a 'waiting' cursor when i select and click it.

my computer is cpu e5500 and 2g ram, does windows had problem to handle a file like 1G?

It takes sometimes to open through photoshop but okay. I end up using adobe bridge to delete that file.

Just wonder is it too big size for windows explorer?

If it's more than 65%, that means it's not enough for what ever you're doing with your computer. For example, if I am using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop in the same time is okay, but if I open also the bridge, my ram will go immediately over 75%, and my computer will start to slow down. You can close some of the programs, until you're doing your job in photoshop, later to start them again. It might work like this, you'll help the computer to do your thing, or it might not. Or upgrade / buy a new computer. A better one. Good luck.

You can't expect to work on a 1G file with only 2G of memory !! there's little left for the operating system (win or otherwise), and PS needs a good bit too !!

try adding mem to 4G or even more if possible Wink

I see, it could be the reason, i have actually can handle the file with photoshop, bridge and lightroom, even it is slow.. but the windows explorer is totally failed to select it and delete..

Because there's no memory left for it to work in Huh
