I find the process keywording individual images to be very time consuming, esp when you have the repeat the same process multiple times at different sites.  I am hoping there is a way to enter all the keywords and categories inside lightroom and when the image is uploaded I don't need to do much more.  Is it possible or am I just dreaming?  I am aware tools such as crushy stock but I am hoping to keep everything in LR if possible.

You can batch keyword in lightroom, but I don't think you can do categories.  Each site's category system is different.

The upload process at most microstock sites (for example iStock) retrieves the keywords from the EXIF data if there are any. You can use Lightroom to enter the keywords. However, at least on iStock, you will still need to disambiguate the keywords.

So is using something like crushy stock the only solution to keyword and set categories before upload?

I use LR for keywording all my images, then upload to sites and set categories. import keyworded images into Deepmeta (only for iStock), do their horrible keyword thingy, although its easier in Deepmeta, set the categories and then upload. I'm not familiar with crushy stock so cant help you there.
Just a thought...I think keywording is the most irritating thing to do for most of us but it is the most important and well worth spending time to get it right, without the right keywords a buyer will never fing your image....
