Hello.

What FTP program do you usually use?

I used to work with Smart FTP. You can put files in the queu for upload to multiple sites. Also you can see thumbnails in the folder to recognice quickly the images.
Its freeware
But the last time I have updated I noticed a problem when pausing and resuming hte uploads.

I havent tried Filezilla but it looks too simple.

Wich are your preferences?

I used to use Smart FTP too but started having problems. Fire FTP plugin as mentioned above is great. Works right out of the Firefox browser.

I have installed fireftp to try it. Is there the possibility to see thumbnails in your local folder? Its important for me because all my file names are similar

I use FTP surfer - only thing I don't like is that you can't upload the same folder of images to all your sites at once.  You have to upload to one site at a time, otherwise you get all sorts of errors.  I am on a PC now, but I used to use FETCH on my mac - that was the best ftp ever, I could dump one folder to as many sites as I wanted, all at once!

I also use FTP Surfer.  Small, reliable, no frills but doing its job.  The only problem is when you're uploading at the same time using a web browser, FTP Surfer considers that the files are "in use" and don't upload them.

Adelaide

What about if you close the program or shut down the computer?
Does it continue the upload where it stopped last time?
So do smart ftp when it worked fine.

Open a terminal console and type ftp at the prompt. Windows has built in ftp too.

If you're a fan of SmartFTP but the newer versions have problems, simply use an older version.

Just Google "old version smart ftp" and you'll find heaps to download.  I'm using 2.5.1005 and it's fine for me.

Can you instal an older version above the last?

Used to use AceFTP a lot, than switched to FlashFXP. Lately using FTPRush. Works great.

p.s.: Tried Filezilla in its first iterations, buggy ones, and can't stop hating it.

What ftp program is there that allows you to upload the same images to multiple ftp sites at once?  OR like madelaide also commented, at the same time as you're uploading them to a website like istockphoto.com or something.

Don't blame me if this wrecks your computer, but I "believe" SmartFTP is one of those simple apps where it's all run out of the core .exe file.  Try it at your own peril.  I'd suggest creating a backup of your Favourites and uninstalling your existing copy first.

I do this with SmartFTP as you can have as many simultaneous upload threads as you like. If you sort your upload queue appropriately you can have 10 files going to 10 different agencies at once.

As this is a "normal" FTP program (outside the browser) you can do whatever you like with iStockphoto uploading and anything else - they're completely separate.

So far SmartFTP is the closest thing I can find to allowing me to easily upload to all of my sites at once, or at least to schedule the uploads...

Is there anything else that allows multiple uploads to all of the sites simultaneously?  I'm really sick of using FTP Surfer and dragging/dropping every 10 or 15 minutes, all afternoon or all evening long.  I feel like I'm a enslaved to the computer.

I tried the rest of the ones mentioned in this thread, and didn't like any of them.

Core is the same as FTP Surfer, what I'm using now.  One connection at a time, and no way to schedule uploads to all of my micros.  ???

If I had a Mac, this wouldnt be an issue - I'd be using Cyberduck or Fetch.

I can't believe everyone else here on PC is uploading one site at a time...
