Hey Everyone,

I'd just like to let you know that we've just reached 1 million images!
Thank you very much for your continued support, we would be nowhere without you.
Someone please tell Tyler to get a cake icon for posts like these  Grin
I have to get back to work now, but I'll pop in from time to time.

Cheers!
Peter

That's great, are you going to start marketing now? I'm starting to give up on you guys.

Hopefully that's enough to attract more buyers.  I'm prepared to wait as long as it takes to get sales going but I think I'm in a minority.  Lots of people will delete their portfolios if they don't sell enough.  I hope you can solve that problem.

I never understood that mindset...the deleting part. Why waste all that effort you went through, and waste more deleting. Just let them sit there, and wait. I heard the same thing with 123rf, and now I think a few are regretting their decisions to pack up their toys and go home.

+1.  Great that you've hit this milestone, but I've been holding off uploading more content since I'm getting a better return on my time submitting elsewhere.  Hopefully that will change.

let´s face it, sales are very weak but the upload is one of the fastest of the industry, I don´t see a downside of submitting at least a big part of your portfolio, I do agree more advertising is needed, I keep on thinking about the money you guys got from IS/GI (not my business but sure it would help raising SF) overall I believe more will come once we talk here about regular sales, we do need agencies with 50% commission!

I'm supporting SF from the first time and I will continue to do so. StockXpert was one of my favorite agency. Simple, clean and well-going.
I know that we can't expect much sales at this time. But if more of us would support the site with images, sales would come much earlier.
I know, SF isn't like SS, upload today and earn tomorrow. But consider uploading because it offers 50% and the owner has experience in industry.

Those who aren't contributing:
Pros:
- 50% revenue
- the fastest upload speed in the industry (up to 1Mbps)
- fastest submitting process
- fastest and consistent reviews

Cons:
- slow sales for now
- 20mb limit of eps file size
- keywords not editable after approval

BTW congratulations for the 1M milestone!

I was StockXpert collaborator and I loved it.
Stockfresh I would like to contribute, but my first application was rejected in November, 2010.
I have chance to try again?

Regards and congrats

Congrats on the milestone.

I won't be doing much (removing or adding to) the 1400 or so images I uploaded for the time being.

The difficulties are illustrated by the fact that I made 6  times as much in royalties from 106 images at Veer as I did from 1400 at Stockfresh. I'm also outearning Stockfresh at WarmPicture, which is newer and smaller.

I really would like to see something start to take off with sales, but so far, it's just not happening.

Yep, sales are pretty much dead. One million images in your database means nothing if you can't turn it into some decent sales.

Agree.  I make about $3 to $5 a month there with 2000 or so images.  I am still going to keep uploading but that will happen on the back end of my workflow.

Congrats!! I hope sales pick up soon. I'll be continuing to upload and support the site as long as the percentages stay the same.

Congrats, Peter. Good to see you've finally hit that milestone.

That said, like most folks here my patience with StockFresh is wearing thin. I was the guy many months ago defending SF when people complained about the slow growth, lack of any noticeable marketing effort, etc. But even I am starting to wonder if this thing is ever going to take off.

What frustrates me more than anything is that you guys have such a huge opportunity in front of you and I'm not sure that you realize it, or that it's not going to always be there. istock isn't top-dog anymore, and there is an incredible opportunity for someone to step in and be the ideal microstock agency for both buyers and contributors. You have that business model. Fair royalty rates, good prices, simple pricing structure that doesn't confuse buyers, and a straight-forward credit system. No B.S., StockFresh is, I think, the best example of what microstock is about. Unfortunately very few buyers know about it.

BigStock gets it. They see that istock is losing ground and they're going after them with their iStuck campaign. You guys have the opportunity to take some of that market share away from istock as well. I just hope you take advantage of that opportunity soon, as it won't last forever.

Me too.  Obviously I'd hoped for more, and faster, but the upload is so fast and easy that it's no effort for me to keep uploading to SF and to just be patient.

If the uploading process had been more time-consuming and tedious, I might be feeling frustrated at this point, but as things are, I'm happy to continue to wait and see.

I still wish SF all the luck, and all the best.

Congrats on reaching the 1 million mark, Peter.  Here's to the next!

Congratulations Peter!  1 million images is a big deal.  Plenty there to draw in buyers.  Let the advertising blitz begin Smiley

Yes. You have been rejected. What part of rejected don't you understand?  Wink Living in the Far East, I know how hard it is for an Easterner to lose face, so I totally sympathize, sortof. It's something like "don't call us, we'll call you"  Wink Just move on.

I don't think it's a question of losing face if he's talking publicly about how he's been rejected. It's more likely to be a question of I'm too good to be rejected, surely there must be some mistake. I'm sure u can correct me if u want mtkang. I think I got rejected by Veer 2 or 3 times, I never understood it, but whatever, my ports are small but for their size they do pretty well on ss, dt, 123rf and I'm not too concerned about being rejected by smaller sites, they're probably doing me a favour by saving my time. I was rejected by shutterstock 5 times too, I never wrote to them also but if I did I would understand if they didn't reply, they must get tons of mails from people asking them why they were rejected and they have a business to run, and enough mails to answer from active members.

Lots of Westerners do the lose face thing too by the way, they just react differently, for example being unable to concede an inch in an argument (especially forums), rather than just admitting the other person has a point. When you start seeing people go off the subject and correcting the other persons grammar for example, you just know that it's a case of being wounded and resorting to other methods to show that they're right. We all have egos and we can all feel embarrassed, hurt or feel that we have lost face, whether we are from the East or the West.

strange, do I say anything to insult someone?

what i mean is in the faq said that you will be able to reapply as the contributors after a certain time (1 month sort of), but my status is always rejected instead of upload images to apply for contributors.

isn't a business should do in a professional way? like what state in faq?

actually there is no point to interpret how I feel, unless it is your interest to roam around internet forum..

i don't feel losing face and i don't feel i am too good to be rejected. I just know it is a business, that someone do it this way, someone do it that way. But i thought i will be able to re-apply after rejections, but i don't have the interface to re-apply. That's why i have sent email to them twice, just to know what to do.

i don't know whether you guys understand what i am saying, if u are a new contributor, you will have an upload interface to submit images for review.

but my upload interface just shows my applications have been rejected, is it forever?

Well I guess we don't know that there should be an interface for re-application after some time. I wasn't rejected from SF, so have never looked in to it. I haven't read the faq, but if they say u should be allowed to apply again after a certain time then ur emails are valid. Your initial post without giving the details that you have done now, really was open to interpretation.

Thank you all for your comments!

I'm sure many of you are impatient and would like to see your sales grow fast, but it will take a while for the site to take off. It's very tricky to attract customers these days and if you're not doing it right, you can waste a ton of money. We're doing marketing of course, just not at the scale some others do. Most of our competitors who grow quicker either had a sizeable 3rd party investment or have a huge community to rely on. We've started from scratch with some of our own money, with zero images and zero customers so we have a lot of hard work to do. We're still at the very beginning but at least we can now say that we have something to sell! Wink Fortunately, we have mastered the way of doing things super efficiently therefore we're not going away any time soon because of financial problems. We're here for the long run!

I'd just like to say that I'm really happy that you support us even though sales are still low. Although I understand why some of you would refrain from uploading while sales pick up (time = money), there's really no point in deleting your port from any site out of protest once you've got all the pics online. You literally don't have to do anything with them and if sales eventually do pick up and you decide to start again, it will be a waste of everyone's time. I see some people hopping from site to site changing their minds and I never understood that. So once again thank you for your support, we know you want more and we're going to work hard on increasing your sales.

As for the applications, I'll check them ASAP. We still have quite a number of people waiting.

I'm not here all the time so if you have any questions you can also reach me directly through our contact form.
