I got a message in my stockfresh inbox about new vector pricing.. Below is a section of the message:

"As we are getting closer and closer to 1 million images, we would like to thank you again for your continued support.
Here are our latest contributor news:

VECTOR PRICING

We have received a lot of feedback about vector pricing lately and we decided to get rid of the price categories altogether. From now on all vectors will cost 10 credits regardless of complexity. This affects about 50% of the files since about half of them were already priced at 10 credits (the rest were almost entirely priced at 5 credits except for a few percent). We hope you like this change, it will make pricing fair and less confusing."

Great to hear this! I will send my vectors as soon as I have some time to do it..

Great news indeed! I'm glad a little constructive grumbling can still have an impact.

I expect though that overly simple illustrations will be rejected for now on...

You're welcome everyone!!!!

Now I've managed to increase your revenue at printbusinesscards and at stockfresh because I kicked up a big enough fuss about it.. at my expense.  While having noone here stand beside me but insulting me in the process.

I hope you've all learnt that if ONE person can change things, imagine what you can do united... but you won't learn because most people here lack principles and like to play it safe... which will burn you in the end anyway.

Not one of you would ever have the decency to thank me but you know what... you're welcome anyway.

Toodles!

Absolutely. I'm not a vector artist myself but I've never really understood why vectors were subjectively judged on 'complexity' and priced accordingly. They don't do that with photo's (other than in a small way with the Vetta collection, etc).

Okay, that's good news! Although it's not priced 20 credits (similiar to an XXL jpg), it's an acceptable price.

Time to re-upload all my vectors.

I saw that the other day on the site.  Good news indeed.  Now I just need to find some time to upload the rest of my port there.  Course now if the sales would just pick up  :P

Lol nah, you're on your own this time.  Unfortunately (for you all), the night light shone bright, high in the sky for the last time.  I hung up the bat suit when Gotham city turned on me for the third time and exiled me.  Im now a mere mortal like you :(

Im actually banned from here so I wont be posting (I'm running out of lives).  I just came here to say pfft.

...but everytime you clock $10 for every vector you sell on StockFresh, you'll smile and say... that sunnymars is a goddamn legend!

;D

Take it easy!

It wasn't you who got the prices raised so don't take all the credit for that, on the other hand it _was_ you who hijacked and killed the whole conversation and started hurling completely unnecessary insults at other people, which probably explains why they didn't stand beside you, even though they might have agreed with your arguments.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback everyone, I hope these new prices are acceptable. If you have any problems just let us know.
And don't forget, from now on EPS 10 files are also welcome! :)

hahaha, rubbish!

As for the rest, they didn't stand beside me cause they're a... not very nice people... nothing to do with right or wrong.

Anyway Peter, you're welcome too!  I hope your business booms so you can one day sell it to Getty again :)

Very acceptable.

And great news on EPS10. I think that's a great move and a good way to distinguish you from the lone dinosaur still only accepting EPS8 (istock).

Thanks Peter,

The new prices are nearly identical to Stockxpert so I personally am satisfied with the new pricing.. Even though the largest JPEG size is still more expensive, this is an acceptable price point. I will re-upload all the vectors I deleted..

I have ignored whoami, but seeing as Lisa quoted her, I think it's worth pointing out that StockXpert was not sold to Getty but to Jupiter Images. Once Jupiter was purchased by Getty (something Peter had nothing to do with), Getty closed StockXpert.

What difference does that make?  The point was that they sold a good site and sold everyone out.  It was a waste of their time uploading.  Everyone has a price and StockFresh is obviously in it for the money and not for anything else.  StockFresh won't amount to anything this time.  They're too far behind to catch up, contributors no longer trust them and all those who sit there screaming about supporting the 'fairer' sites won't budge from the unfair sites like iStock and Fotolia.  They've got no hope this time.

In contrast, compare them to sites like Dreamstime and Canstock.   You have to admire Serban who sticks it out and makes the site work.  Dreamstime may be a pain at times with all their rules but they're strict because it's Serban's 'baby' and he wants to protect it.  One has to admire his passion for it.   Duncan at Canstock is the same.  The fact that Peter sold StockXpert says a lot about his attachment and passion for the site.  I'm sure it will the same with StockFresh only this time it won't be worth much.

Just to make things clear: in Jan 2006 we sold 49% of our company to Jupiterimages because we were very new to the microstock game and felt a huge pressure as we didn't want to screw up. That was right at the start of StockXpert by the way, so I guess most people joined an already sold out site. Anyway, we thought they would bring a lot of experience to the table, and the reason why we sold only 49% because we wanted to be careful and didn't want to give up control on our sites. Things went great for a while and they were interested to buy more, so we sold up to 90%, of course still with certain guarantees on control. Nobody knew in advance that in 2008 the whole economy would collapse which would also put their parent company into a difficult financial situation and they would have to sell the entire images department to Getty. After the sale we still had our 10% and tried to work with them, but it was clear that they wanted to do things the opposite way, so we left and sold our remaining share. End of story.

Oh, and Marina, as for attachment and passion, I personally designed and programmed and wrote every single bit of text on SXC, Stockxpert and Stockfresh and I put a tremendous amount of work and dedication into every single one of those sites (way beyond what most people would care to do) and you have absolutely no idea what those sites mean / meant to me. I didn't want to bring this up but you compared yourself a superhero just for starting a flamewar in a forum so this might help putting things in perspective.

I think Peter did a great job with Stockxpert.  Can anyone name a site that started after the big 4 that has done better?  It was a real shame that Getty closed it but I don't blame Peter for what happened.  If he had kept 100% of Stockxpert, it would of ended up like all those other failed sites.  If he had kept 51%, he would be in an impossible partnership with Getty.

I'm also really pleased that Peter has started stockfresh and is making slow progress.  Just to get in to the low earners puts it ahead of most sites and I see more potential than several sites that currently sell more.  The site is well designed and is a pleasure to use, unlike most of the competition.

Don't worry about it Peter, I thought that Marina was banned (a few times now) how come she's back (again)?
Much respect for being so responsive to your artists, despite the petty attacks of some on this forum.

Agreed. StockXpert was great, I always did well there. Better than istock some months, even back then when istock was still a good earner. Good money, fair commission, and never once did I ever consider Peter and company sellouts. It was just bad luck that getty bought jupiter. Before that, under jupiter, StockXpert did as well as ever before.

I really don't get the complaints people have about StockXpert shutting down. That was all getty's doing. No one else is to blame for that.

SF has the potential to regain the former glory of StockXpert. It's been a slow start, but SF has shown some promise.
