Indeed. Something stupid, or something they wanted.

Perry,

You said they were back online... no there is just a place holder page.

Looks like they bit the dust and didn't bother telling anyone.   Angry    I had several sales there... but not enough for a payout.

I think it was in November that they raised their prices due to increasing costs... maybe after raising their price, their sales plummeted or something.  What a shame.  Sad

I'm not lying, they WERE online when I checked, I even managed to log in. But now they are gone again...

Hi Perry,

When did you check the site... on the 15th which was the date of your previous post?

If that is the case, I wonder what the heck is going on there, then.  I do hope they are not out of business!

It would be interesting to know, but I wonder how easy it would be to bring a site like that back online?

I used to own a website -- nothing elaborate like a stock site with all its databases, shopping carts and such... but my little site was easy to bring back up or make changes...

I wonder if a stock site is as easy... or if when it loses its domain, it loses all its data (photos) too?  Huh

Or is that stored someplace else?  Huh

Anyhow... I do hope they are back up and running at some point.

Losing a domain will not automatically result in losing hosted files. Unless they lost both accounts by not renewing - but even in that case files will not be deleted immediately. Most sites host photos on an external server (such as Amazon S3) anyway.

Maybe when Perry checked the domain was still pointing to their site in some parts of the world? (changes take time to propagate)

Just guessing

Strangely enough, November has been my BME there ($9 out of $24 lifetime earnings) and I was almost optimistic about their future. If they're gone, it's not a huge loss but still unpleasant, especially wondering where our pictures may go when a site closes without notice.

Hey Everyone,

Just checked the Stock Photo Media link again this morning at 11:15 am New York Time (I am in the USA)... and it appears they are back up and running... Yay!!!  Grin

I checked yesterday 12-19 and the day before that -- 12-18 and all I saw was a place holder page that their hosting service put up.

FYI, they are still around.  However I cashed out my earnings just incase...they let you take what ever is in your account every three months which is nice for a slow earner.
