Hi everyone,
I submitted my portfolio link to Stocksy on 11/8 and just a few hours later received my official invitation to complete the application (which I did - same day).  I'm wondering how long it usually takes to hear back from them regarding file quality, etc.?  I'm getting a bit anxious as it's been nearly a month, but then again, I'm not sure what to expect.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul "Pete" Tessier

Wow Pete, nice portfolio! I can't comment on Stocksy since I am not submitting to them, but to me your images look like they should be sold as Right-Managed...

I'm not on Stocksy either, but it seems to me they would be stupid if they turned you down. That owl in flight image is incredible.

Hi Pete, nice portfoilio!
quick question, once they invited you to complete the application, what exactly did they ask you for? did you send full res images?

Hi Pete,
I'm surprised that you received your invitation only few hours after submitting your portfolio. I thought that it usually takes few weeks until they review portfolio. I received my invitation few months ago. I had to wait for a long time (more than one month) but than I completed my application and sent 10 high-res images very quickly. I'm sorry now because I didn't choose suitable images and my application was declined fast, they answered me next day. I sent new portfolio link one week ago and I'm waiting for their answer again.

I hope you will receive response from Stocksy as soon as possible. This waiting is very tiring. Good luck!

I guess exclusivity isn't working out for you?  Nice portfolio, good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Exclusivity may be working out for him, or not; no one's concern but his.

Perhaps he just wants to work with an agency that appreciates him and his work.

Hate to tell you this, Tick, but there are several good alternatives out there and Stocksy is starting to look like one of them.

That's why I was asking, I like to know what's going on, especially from people that have a track record of sales.  He doesn't have to tell me if it's working out or not but I don't see the harm in asking.  He's obviously considering dropping exclusivity if he's applying to Stocksy.   I'm curious what numbers have you seen that make it seem like Stocksy is a viable alternative to anything, Sean's numbers certainly don't inspire confidence in that?  Hate to tell you this but for some of us this is a business not a hobby.

Hate to tell you this but I've been doing stock as a business for, most likely, much longer than you have....just not in the RF sector.  I was there in the late 80's and early 90's when you could pay off your mortgage with your stock income, and I did.
In all honesty when it comes to other people's reasons for wanting to do something, like drop the crown, you should probably mind your own business.
P.S. The negative wasn't from me.... ;)

Hi Pete!

First of all. Nice portfolio.

I'm in the same position as you. I got accepted and was requested to send in full-res sample images. So I did in the beginning of October. After I while I got impatient and wrote the support and asked when I would get more information, and I got this answer:

"Hi Jacob,

Thank you so much for your patience.

In all honesty, we've been overwhelmed with the interest from photographers to join our co-operative and are currently going through all of these applications. There's no particular reason for the delay on your submission other than the backlog we're currently facing. We're a small team with a very limited number of memberships available so we're trying to be as thorough as possible with each request.

We'll notify you as soon as we've had a chance to review your submission.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Rob"

So I guess - all we can do is wait!  :)

Hi everyone,

I still haven't heard back.  I also had written to inquire on my status a while ago, but received the same canned answer as Jacob.  And now where their website's call to artists page says "We have now reached our limit for 2013 and have closed our Call To Artists. Please check back in April 2014 if you are interested in becoming a Stocksy Photographer," I don't know if I still have a chance or not.  I had heard they were responding to everyone, whether they made it in, or not.  Am I part of that 2013 "limit" they've reached? ammentorp, have you heard back?

I need to make other business moves, however this "unknown" has kept me in limbo for quite a while.  I hope it will be worth the wait.

Gorgeous work Pete - especially love the eyes of the owl and the croc (alligator?) peeking out from below and those starlit skies.

Best of luck - hope you hear soon!

It was worth the wait; I just received my congratulatory email!  Just pushed the button to get rid of my crown. Happy Friday!
