Hello all.

I am fairly new to Microstock and brand new to this forum, so please bear with me here if this question has been posted before.

I recently started uploading to StockXpert via FTP and I am having trouble with them reviewing images and then rejecting them on the basis of the mdoel release being missing when in fact I don't even get a chance to attach the model release before they review my pictures.

Basically this is what I am doing:

1 - Upload the images via FTP with all the keywords, title, and description already embedded in the file's ITPC data.
2 - Transfer the files over to a new folder from the SPX briefcase once they are uploaded.
3 - Then start adding categories and model releases.

My question I guess is how do you avoid them reviewing images before they are ready to submit?

I use a number of other sites too and never have this problem on any of them since you actually have to submit the image before it gets reviewed. But it seems on StockXpert the image gets submitted as soon as you move it from the StockXpert Briefcase over to an editable folder.

I also tried sending a message to their support people and got nothing back. All the other sites are so responsive to contributor inquiries and most also have support telephone numbers where you can call to talk to someone live. It seems StockXpert does not have a contact number and their support is pretty bad.

I've had this happen once or twice.

How much time elapses between the time you transfer them out of the briefcase and the time you attach releases?  If it is happening right away then it is not at all normal, but if there is some time between when you transfer the files to a folder and when you get around to adding releases that would make sense.

I have adapted my workflow to transfer the images out of the briefcase and then attach releases right away.  I don't bother with the categories.  They aren't necessary and I seriously doubt they affect sales.

Thanks, that is good information.

Sometimes I transfer them and come back to them a day or two later. So probably I am waiting too long it seems based upon what you said. But one time they were actually reviewing pictures as I was adding the model releases. That was bad timing. It would simply make more sense though if there was a submit button to click before pictures actually get reviewed like they have on all the other sites.

So I guess all the ones that got rejected on the basis of no model release need to be uploaded again and resubmitted that way or is there another way to resubmit them with the model releases without uploading them again?

I am surprised to hear that you can submit without adding categories in at all though. Interesting.

Thanks again...

It's been a while since that happened to me (don't submit that many people pix) but as I remember if you just go ahead and attach the release it'll automatically get reviewed and approved without re-uploading.

Thanks, would be great if I could attach a model release without having to re-upload. I added model releases to a few of the ones that were rejected the other day, but they still show as being rejected even though I have added the model releases in now. Is there a way to get them to re-review them or will they eventually get around to it?

I am quite surprised that they got to be one of the Big 6 with such poor contributor support and/or explanations on how things work in the their FAQ

1. I never do categories on Stx, never did, so the upload is painless.
2. I love the site's programming and looks. Well done, no hickups.
3. It's a pity the original team will probably have been fired by Getty because they used to be very OK before.
4. We don't know yet what Getty's plans are with Stx, but all this doesn't seems to be very good. Firing a team means you killed the soul, and you're only left with an empty shell of the site itself and the images. Maybe Getty was just interested in Jupiter Images and they want to get rid of Stx itself.

I have now written STX another support message letting know that the model releases on the 35 rejected photos are attached and asking them to review them again. Who knows. They never seems to respond to any inquiries. Maybe you are right about them having become an empty shell.

Also, I don't understand the purpose of moving images over to the briefcases the system creates when you move photos from the SPX briefcase to a regular briefcase and the other folder areas. It seems like the system keeps your images in 3 different places and I can't understand the point of all this convoluted picture navigation and archiving within the same site???
