StockXpert moved the site last night to new servers.  Now I can't seem to login.  Anyone else having these issues???

I just logged in without problems.  I'm on the east coast of the USA and logged in around 7:45

It's up again (8.35am).
Could be off and on today as they sort out the new servers?

As I stated, I had an issue where I couldn't login.

The login page would display and I would enter my login/password, but then the login page would redisplay.

I tried this over and over to no avail.

I then cleared the cookies from my browser and that fixed the issue.

All is well now.

Site came back soon after last post, but with mySQL errors so still couldn't log in. I just go in ok, so hopefully it's ok.

For those that get stuck at the login page, you might want to try the following URL:

http://www.stockxpert.com/index.phtml?f=logout

That should hopefully remove the offending cookie and let you login.

Their move yesterday came just as I hit the "Transfer to Gallery" button - I had to upload all 50 images again and wait another day before hitting the button again. Bad timing on my part, I guess.

On the plus side, I got my first sales from StockXpert this morning.

I uploaded 2 images yesterdays minutes before they went out.  Seemed longer than usual but I didn't care at that moment.

This morning, the 2 photos were "rejected" with the following comment: "broken image, please re-upload".

I guess I'm the first one with that reason!  Wink

I will re-upload them today.

That's exactly what happened to all fifty of mine.

I uploaded 5 yesterday and it seemed to work ok. Went back in to look and I had 3 folders with yesterday's date - all empty.

Couldn't log in for a while this morning. Emailed support on both issues but no response.

Glad to hear you got a sale, I was concerned buyers were having problems also.

Guys,

Sorry I didn't post a warning about the migration. I posted one in the StockXpert forums but not here.

I know Peter and team are working their butts off as we speak tightening up any loose ends.

Thanks for your patience, and this move will certainly help site performance.

I lost a whole batch of 25 photos....they just disappeared....so I reloaded them and they went thru ok...but now I can't attach any model releases to them Embarrassed. So I guess they will just sit in pending status until they fix all the bugs.

I'm going to hold off uploading anymore until they fix things....it's a pain in the A@# to have to upload them all again.

I loaded batch without any problems, or so I thought until I tried to attach model releases, and it just wont accept them. Looking in the forums, seems to be some sort of technical error.

Hurro...

A question for Steve-oh about this, and other website owners.

If you're having migration/upgrade problems, why not slap a notice up on the website itself for contributors to see, so they don't waste time uploading/editing when things are going wrong?

IStock did something similar last year, and I think Shutterstock might have as well, although I'm not sure it was them...

I can understand the reluctance to 'confess' to buyers that something is going on, but the contributors are 'part of the team' and would not mind being told to wait a day or two before they load/edit stuff...

Comming from the It industry with a fairly wide experience I seems odd to get your users float along in a vacuum..  Posting to the forums isn't good enough on a site with thousands of users, as only a small percentage will ever read the forums messages..  It would take a developer 10 minutes to put a 'Do not adjust your set' message on the login page for submitters...

Just my 2c worth..

(Oh, and SX seems to be all back to normal now, although I can't tell if it's faster as I'm on a rural connection that tops out at about 200k on the other side of the planet, so it seemd fine before!  :-) ).

Chellyar,

In hindsight, we probably should have had something like this. With that said, the admin crew was definitely not expecting any problems with the migration, and they thought once it was brought to their attention, they could have it fixed ASAP.

So once a problem is noticed, the question is is it the best use of time to try and fix it ASAP, or let everyone know somehow that there is a problem first and then fix it?

I will suggest that they have something prepared for next time, so in case a problem exists, they can post something immediately without sacrificing too much time.

Thanks!
-Steve

Hi Steve...

All it would take is a hook in the header includes to put up 'I'm broke, please try later' messages, I did that for all the complex sites I coded, although I'm not in the web dev. game any more...

(Thank goodness, sold my online business in 2004...  Too much pain, not enough gain!!!)

Cheers, Chris H.
