I think sxc.hu is much older than StockXpert.  People put images for free, most of them probably now have moved to the business side, I have no idea.

On the good side, people go there because images are free, and they see images in StockXpert that perhaps will interest them.  So if a fraction of people that look for free images in SXC go buy images in StockXpert, that's a good thing.

For our sake, I hope SXC never closes. There are a lot of really good artists over there, who create images that could easily be accepted and sell well at StockXpert. Imagine SXC closes and a good chunk of the people who are SXC-only artists come over to StockXpert.

Buyers may come to StockXpert if SXC were to close. But a lot of good competition would come along with them.

Aside from that, I do think that many SXC downloaders eventually try StockXpert. That is exactly how I started out in microstock. I was downloading images for small design projects from SXC, then saw some even better stuff at StockXpert for very affordable prices, then realized that I could make images that would probably sell.
