I requested a payment from StockXpert and it took 11 days to get a payment notification saying they had sent a check. It's been another 11 days and still no check. Doesn't seem like it should take this long for a check to go from Hungary to the US. Only takes 4 days for a letter to make it to Germany.

For those who have requested checks before, how long did it take to receive it?

Im from Croatia , and we are neighbors with Hungary , so aprox same distance to USA . When I was still requesting cheques it took about a week from the day they were sent from USA till they arrived in Croatia. Well thats the opposite direction , but it should be the same.

I never had a check sent from SX , so I cant help you there , but  I had few Moneybookers payment from them and they were  always on time , at least in my case.

Still no check but I did get a response from them...

"I am sorry but it takes quite a long time to send checks since both the
American and the Hungarian department checks them.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding!"

So I guess what we've learned from this is StockXpert is not the place to request a check from.

Although Paypal sucks I guess I will from now on considering I can't get them to tell me if the check has indeed been sent or not.

Although Paypal sucks ...
Other than countries that dont allow paypal, what is wrong with it.  I dont have any issues with it.  Money goes in money goes out all at no cost.  i have to transfer from USD to another currency and I am not sure what their forex rate is but other than that, it is totally free and a lot easier than chq.

I have to exchange the $$ to norwegian Kr.  and the exchange rate is pretty crummy.  however cashing a cheque isn't free either.  There is also things that can be boughten with american $$ and paypal, so not all the funds end up being exchanged to norwegian kr.

Leaf, just send the money to your mom, you'll lose less in the exchange rate   Wink

Just to add closure to this... I did receive the payment via check though not without some irregularities. The check I received didn't come from Hungary, it came from the East Coast of the US from the parent company Jupiter Images. The envelope was postmarked more than a month after they said it was sent. The postmark was also after I had told them to consider the check lost, cancel it, and issue a new one which they said they would.

Still uneasy about the situation I contacted them to make sure this was the new check because I didn't want any charges from my bank for attempting to deposit a canceled check. They told me they didn't cancel the check, as they agreed to, and this was the original check.

So, on the up side I have the check. On the down side, It took over 2 months to get, they didn't tell the truth about when it was sent, they didn't tell the truth about canceling/reissuing, and they answered less than half of my attempts to contact them.

Since when is cashing a cheque not free? What kind of bank doesn't cash checks for their customers?

Technically, I believe we can say that the bank do not charge to cash a cheque, but for the currency exchange.  I don't know if this is everywhere, but here there are taxes charged to money exchange, be it cash or TC or cheque.

Regards,
Adelaide
