As we all know Stockxpert changed the search engine. What I found out, is that the popularity of the images is measured by how many views you get on your image. My idea is, well lets use that in the following way: we post thumbnails including a link of the image here. By clicking on it, we will have a look at the image at StockXpert and can rate it or comment it, if we want. That will make our images more popular if they deserve it. If you think, the image is not interesting or worth more publicity, just do not click on it. It definetely will help your image.
Maybe we should limit that for one image, because 1: it should be a good one 2: I do not know how many will take part in it.
Any objection?
Its like the section at StockXpert where you can promote your image :-)

Well here is my image:

Hey! How did you do that! That's cool!  ;D

It's a mash-up of a plain-jane crescent moon shot and a looking-out-of-the-airplane-window shot. Pretty easy to do, really - I've generated a whole series of them.

I'm peaved that IS won't accept it - they either complain about the (very minimal) banding, say it's not a suitable stock image, or politely decline to add it to their collection. I submit it every few weeks or so ... one of these days it'll make it in!

I also visited your excellent images, and found them all to be fine work.

Here's one of mine which is new and doing well so far:

(This idea is too brilliant! (Hope we don't get in trouble.))

What gives you that idea?

Thanx guys!
I promoted one of my rubber ducky images on StockXpert in that "Home" section. What happend, it got a lot of views. After a day or so it went up in popularity. It went on the second place when I search for "bird" without any dls. In the meanwhile it got a download and is still on the 6th place when you search for bird.
Right now it seems the search engine has not picked up our images as popular, maybe the do this every day once or every two days.

I thought it was ok since StockXpert is doing that on their own site, we just have the knowledge now how their search engine works.
If you Steve-oh have any objection tell us. I do not want to do something which is unethical .

You are probably correct, but I'm still not totally convinced.  But I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Here is an image that I would like to promote.

EDIT:

I recently found that the image that I posted was very similar to another member's, so I decided to pull the image (to avoid unnecessary competition between our images).

Here is the replacement image:

How many views did you get for that one to bring it up so high?

Thanks for visiting my image, everyone - it's now on page 2/54 in the "Popularity" rankings. Go "Planet Earth", Go!

I've got a beef to raise, though. Someone - and I won't say who - rated it only 9/10. Even though I've only been at this for 4.1/2 months, even I know that it is the accepted practice to leave only perfect marks.

The purpose of this exercise is to help each other promote ourselves - it is not for you to subjectively judge the work of others. I don't know what you were thinking by rating my image anything less than 10/10. I visited your image and rated it as high as possible. I view your failure to reciprocate as quite derogatory and lacking in etiquette.

You have made me feel slighted and shortchanged - I suggest that in the future you consider the impact your actions may have upon others.

End of rant.

How does one embed a picture in a post from a microstock site?

how to post a picture in the thread

1. find the website where the picture is
2. right click on the picture
3. click 'copy image location' (this gives you the website address to JUST the picture)
4. come back to the forum (in another window) and press the 'insert image' button... then put the cursor between the two (img) (/img) boxes (the brackets will be square though) and click paste
5. go back to the page where your picture is.
6. copy the url you see at the top in your web browser
7. go page to the forum page
8. highlight the line that says (img)http://imageaddress(/img) then press the 'link' button.  You should now see
(url)(img)http://imageaddress(/img)(/url)
9. put your cursor where the star is (url*)(img)http://imageaddress(/img)(/url) and type an equals sign then PASTE
10. in the end it should look like this - except exchange the round brackets for square ones.

(url=http://webpageaddress)(img)http://imageaddress(/img)(/url)
