Topic: StockXpert's $10,000 sale

I see some discussion going on about a couple thousand dollar sales on other sites, so I thought I'd mention we recently sold exclusive rights to an image for $10,000.

It wasn't exclusive at the time. It had been downloaded a couple hundred times already, and the contributor got 50%.

Obviously this isn't a normal occurrence, but it just goes to show that the chances of it happening are a little better if you diversify because it can happen at any site at any time.

Wow thats great! Congrats to StockXpert and the lucky photographer! Maybe you guys at StockXpert should include an Exclusive rights sale option, similar to the one which Dreamstime has. If buyers see this they might be more inclined to use this option.

Steve,

Darn, the lucky image wasn't mine!  Smiley

That's really great news, I guess the buyer requested the exclusivity and negotiated through you? I guess we can't know which was the lucky image, for inspiration...

Regards,
Adelaide

two days later, there is a post about this "big" sale at stockxpert...just appeared today....seems they don't really remember what the image was.... really? they sell it for 10 grand and they don't remember what they sold?Huh?? sounds like someone was inspired by FEMA's last press conference, although I could be wrong.....

Hi void!

The reason I posted it here first is because it was more in response to others being posted and specifically to one site using it as a reason to go exclusive.

Since StockXpert doesn't ask for exclusivity at all, I just wanted to let people know that these types of sale can happen anywhere, and if anything, it's a reason to diversify as much as possible.

The reason I posted it two days later on StockXpert is because I wanted to make sure I presented it in a way that didn't simply overhype the situation. I think it would have been irresponsible for me to present it in a way that gave contributors the impression that they should definitely begin to expect more of these or that they should change what they submit in order to land one of these.

I simply wanted to give it more thought about what it really means to StockXpert and the microstock industry overall.

You guys know me by now. This is how I am, for better or for worse.

I spoke for myself when I said I didn't really remember the image. I wasn't directly involved with the sale and I looked at it briefly before it was taken down. Like I said it was a floralesque grunge illustration. More of a quasi-abstract background image.

Sorry if my handling of the situation was offensive to you in some way. It was our first one like this. Smiley

This is great to read, well done to StockXpert and to the person who had the image on the site Smiley
Hope there are many many more sales like this one, and I agree with the poster who mentioned that StockXpert should include this kind of License on the site.
