Hello. I'm a vector artist, and I'm setting up my new Symbiostock stock. I also have my vectors up on a few microstock sites. I've been on those sites for years, and have done pretty well. Especially at Shutterstock. I plan on selling at the old microstock sites and selling on my new Symbiostock site at the same time.

What are you guys' thoughts on selling on the microstock sites AND having a Symbiostock site?

Has anyone had any problems when having your images on both types of sites at the same time? Have your overall sales increased, or were the sales the same, just spread out amongst different sites?

While I am excited to have my OWN site up with Symbiostock, I have a fear of somehow hurting my income from Shutterstock, which is a BIG part of my' monthly income to support my family.

Thanks,
Nate

I don't really understand your concerns. If your SYS site is doing so good that SS sales are getting hurt you'll be smiling all over and jumping up and down shouting "Yahoo!"  ;D - Just make sure your SYS licenses cost similar $ amounts like SODs on SS. Also, I think it might help to have some images exclusively on your SYS site giving buyers an excuse reason for looking there.

From what I hear it's currently mostly vector artist that are getting regular sales on their SYS sites. So give it a go, there won't be any looking back, I am sure... :D

Most people are submitting to the stock sites and have a Symbiostock site so you can reach even more people.

Why not join us over at symbiostock.org - the new home of the Symbiostock forum

Agreed.  If your own site starts to hurt sales on any other site - you can accomplished your task.  You'd be making 2x at least what you are making now.

I'm 100% sure.. ok 99% that my symbio site helps me a lot with micro sales, does SEO for my portfolios on micros and finally I have a clean and organized collection, see no problem with that.

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Plrang, do you have any suggestions or tips for setting up your SYS portfolio so it also does SEO for your microstock sites? That was a new idea to me.

Thanks!
Nate
