That's interesting to know. I'm getting close to that range, so hopefully things pick up soon. I think I'm spoiled because my Ktools site started selling right away. Success = sales and money.

If you can work on your site full-time, if you know quite a bit about seo, if you can spend time on social media, if you have multiple sites you can all link together and you dont mind waiting a year or maybe more for a sale, then you might be successful.

I think the part in bold applies to any self-hosted site, not just Symbiostock, and anyone considering a self hosted site on any platform should take note. There is no magic wand - "build it and they will come" just doesn't apply. As photographers whether it's assignment work, micro, self hosted or with an agency you need to put in the effort to build a strong portfolio and market yourself.

Agreed. In my opinion, the added networking functionality of SY has no real benefit, without doing all of the other things in bold above. In fact, i made quite a few more sales with my images on Dans Ktools site than i did in the same amount of time with an SY site.

Cathy is right about the negative stories being valuable as well. There are a lot of them and we can all learn from them too. Many people are struggling with sales. There is no denying it. I will say it again. Symbiostock is not a good fit for many people for a variety of reasons. Will it work for you? Maybe, maybe not. At least Cathy gave it a try. It didn't work for her. It does work for me. FWIW I charge 14.75 for a vector and I get multiple sales a week. Other people might get one huge sale a month. Each site is unique. You just need to figure it out on your own.

an absolute lie -- as anyone can see there are plenty of negatives posted both here and in the symbiostock.org forums

Actually I think the negatives outnumber the positives about 10 to 1. Especially if you count the bug threads. That is a bit misleading though because the people who are happy tend to stay quiet. It is the people who need help or that are frustrated that tend to speak up. Nature of the beast I guess.

So, you had one big sale, or multiple sales?

I'm happy for you, but I think people are wondering are your results a rule or an exception. How was you Feb? And Jan? How are your averages?

It is multiple sales, but not a rule.. ı would say "one exceptionally good month" so far..

Jan and feb were still better than veer, stockfresh, gl, yaymicro, alamy combined and I will take that any month of the year..

It is also good that the opportunity is there and I can have great months 2-3 times a year.. better than having no site at all

Congrats. My March has started like that too on my Ktools site too. I'm beating everybody, but they'll probably catch me. I guess it helps when you get an $80 sale on the 1st. Regardless, it always feels good.

I have uploaded a lot of images (6000) and have few sales per month, less than 20. My prices are high ($60 each) and most of them are bought by local advertising agencies that need the pictures of my country. So thats my expierence... overall i would say positive and slowly growing.

That is a actually a great advise think local and think about stuff that is hard to find on universal stock agencies but needed in your area. Then shoot and advertise accordingly to ad agencies in your area (a simple email can be enough but personal contact is always better).

My CMSaccount site is way behind this month.. Some months it is better than symbiostock.. your site is fairly new.. I am sure you will be talking of success soon..

Thats exactly what i am doing, promoting it locally by email and going to meetings with advertising agencies that are looking to find a solution to their clients under a budget that want local images. Some dont even have a paypal account but use the site to find the images they want and deposit in my bank account so i can mail them the pictures.
