I already run 2 sites and have a good host for that.

However, direct selling all my images (2000+) will require a lot more space than I currently have.

So my question...

What do you all recommend as the solution? I don't really want to upgrade my hosting package as the extra storage costs quite a bit. So would the better solution be to get something like Amazon S3 and host images separately to the site itself?

If so, what are the best options for this in terms of cost/space/speed?

And Leo, any suggestions for what will integrate best with Symbiostock?

During the test phase - when I'm frantically responding to everyone's bug requests and your getting hourly prompts to update your theme :D - you might want to start with just a few images, like maybe 500.

I'm going to make an upgrade that transfers your files to amazon if that is desired. I have to look into it a bit more, but they have an API which allows you to do all that stuff. It will probably take me a few weeks to put it together. It will run a check to see if latest files exist on amazon...if not...transfer. Then upon purchase, give customer a download link at amazon.

So you will upload to your site...process...then it takes care of the amazon stuff.

"your getting hourly prompts to update your theme" - ha, oh this will be a fun next few months...!

Thanks for the info Leo, I think this part of the solution will be crucial for most people who are serious about selling direct. In then end 100 files online wont get us anywhere, but our whole portfolio's of thousands just might.

Also, (slightly off topic), how do you recommend setting up your theme (upon release) to make upgrades easier? Child theme? If so, can you please provide details for us of how to set up a child theme so we can keep up to date with your latest releases without overwriting any customisations.

thanks mate, can't believe we nearly have this thing in our hands! :)

I'm open for suggestions. During that test phase I can change things to be more accommodating to child themes. I also want to make alterations available from the admin.

The test release makes 0 accommodation for design. I'm hoping thats where people get involved and start steering the progress.
