MOZ has put together its latest ranking factors using correlation analysis. I'm no SEO expert, but I really think these should be used very cautiously if not taken with a grain of salt. Google's ranking factors are always changing (though it is reasonable to believe certain themes stay constant). Trying to backwards engineer their factors is an impossible task.

The most promising correlation is MOZ's proprietary "Page Authority." But since it is proprietary, MOZ isn't going to tell you what goes into it. So I'm not exactly sure what to do with the information.

I have a MOZ / Opensiteexplore account. I check my Authority numbers now and then just to ensure they are improving. I suppose it is good information to consider.

Any thoughts on this from the more experienced SEO experts?

From their page:
  • Page Authority correlates higher than any other metric we measured.
  • Social signals, especially Google +1s and Facebook shares are highly correlated.
  • Despite Penguin, anchor text correlations remain as strong as ever.
  • New correlations were measured for schema.org and structured data usage.
  • More data was collected on external links, keywords, and exact match domains.
Really not only are you already doing well, but your already ahead of the game due to #4 already being a strong focus.
#2 Social networking - I'm not going to get into detail but the premium is going to be a full-on twitter app which integrates many aspect of your network communication and image promotion. So not only will Symbiostock have a sort of combined voice on twitter, but it will funnel down to promoting your site on a few levels.
For those skeptical - this isn't going to be your noisy little blue bird competing for attention - its actually going to make practical use of twitter's API without aggressive promotion.

I'm not touching facebook - I personally think its evil and takes more than it gives - but there is still plenty you can do with it using basic wordpress plugins.

I see a few people have already brought up the point that Page Authority was built to correlate with Google page rankings via machine learning. So it is a little pointless to say that Google page rankings correlate to Page Authority. However there is useful correlation data with respect to back links, though I think correlation to back links from highly ranked pages would be more interesting.

My quick take away is keywords, links, and domain authority  still make up the bulk of the ranking.
