new feature:
display all category images that DO NOT have a subcategory - eg in Europe don't show the images for France, Italy or Czech Republic fr which I have sub categories.  this gives a smaller display of images that would otherwise get lost (about 60 rather than 250)

Since my images are now being indexed by google, I have had a chance to check them out in a google images search. Some images do not show a watermark at all, because of the colors, density of colors, etc. I know it is there, but I would like to be able to control the opacity, so on the darker images, I might make the watermark a little lighter, and on lighter images I could make it darker.

I read this earlier but it didn't mean anything to me then. Now that I'm in the throes of building my site, it does.

My watermark shows up well on light-colored images/backgrounds, but it completely disappears on images with black subjects (ravens, blackbirds, etc). I've been thinking I'd have to create a white watermark version to use on those images, but Cathy's suggestion would be much better.

So... +1

Leo - could you make the option in the admin that already exists for turning comments on or off also apply to trackbacks and ping backs?

I have them disabled in the wordpress->discussion area already but for some reason each new published image still defaults to allowing trackbacks/pingbacks. Starting to see some spam coming through this way.

Definitely noted on these things. Shortly before release I'll have to hit up up for a list of popular requests! Microstockman is to be credited for many of the behind-the-scenes optimization the early releases of the theme had :D

Aww thanks Leo. It's a very nice way of saying "microstock man keeps bugging me with things to add!"  ;D

BTW - Your Image Sitemap is working brilliantly. This is a plugin everyone should buy. without it my Yoast sitemaps have indexed a total of FOUR images. Your site map has helped Google index 1800+ images! (IMAGES people, not pages)

My url indexed fast with Leo's tool. Howver my images are only indexing slowly 58/1213. Is this normal? They are going up slowly

I strongly recommend BOTH leo's and yoast sitemaps -- even though io get virtually identical results  -- they differ by only a few items each dasy, but they are complementary.  leo's picks up more sym specific details, while yoast is invaluable for tweaking the SEO

274 of how many?  and, most importantly, how many of these images were at other agencies before you put them on sym?

I used to gwt about 10% images indexed.  yoast & leo's sitemaps raised that to about 20%.  but for the images (most new to tagencies too) I've uploaded in the last several weeks, i'm getting 80-90% indexed.  most likely we're in competition with out own images that are indexed thru the agencies.

What is meant by images being indexed? I saw 5-6 of my images from my sym site on google images but webmaster shows only 2 indexed images.

You can try Ajt "stock plugin" the plugin shows red "EDITORIAL USE ONLY" messages, when image has category Editorial.

read more http://www.microstockgroup.com/symbiostock-seo-marketing/symbiostock-alamy-plugin/
or go to plugin page http://ajotte.com/stock-plugin/

Have found one way around an Editorial banner - and it can be edited to your own preferences - mine just needs to shrink a bit
http://stockimages.kerioak.com/image/easyjet-plane-at-airport/

Do you mind sharing how you've done it? Do you simply put this picture into the image description?

thayt's not bad -- changing urls won't matter if stock agency versions are already indexed

My Feature Request!!!
Some things have been mentioned before, but the following would really help.
Some may also be possible right now so if so let me know how!

On the client side of things....
Ability to change number of images clients see in the grid view. Best way would being able to change each size, so instead of saying 30 images change it to 5x6 or 6x5 etc.
Ability to show bread crumbs under the image in the image page.
Ability to move the boxes in the 2 columns around in the image page.
Ability to change color background, font colors etc. I have a feeling this is available in the Child Themes by using code but maybe a plug-in could be made where it would have a list of values to change for each part for those of us not so code savvy.

On the processing/organization side of things.
A category for the original filename.
Improved searching options, i.e. search by category AND/OR keyword AND/OR exclusive AND/OR original filename etc, not just by description/title.
Improved sorting options, including being able to see and sort by the original filename.
Ability to search/sort by upload DAY, not just MONTH.
Additional licensing options including EL and RM.

these are good features -- when we have 500,000 images -- right now, it's a rare search that comes up with more than 100-200 results

even if you do a 'silly' search like 'beautiful woman' the results are manageable --these are 2 of the most used keywords  with 13,000 and 12,000 results in the global search http://cascoly.com/symbio/list.asp?list=401
but the combination gives just 3000 images and eliminating similar you get about 500 with 2500 similar

so even for this extremely broad search the results are reasonable.  the search is getting better, but at this point i'd place it lower on the list of priorities  (right now sym is competitive with SS -- for 'bald soprano', sym gives 0 and SS gives only 1 result!)
