Sorry I haven't been in the forums much. Its actually better that I'm not.

The premium version is almost done.

Actually I'm still looking for a way to distribute it for free, which I believe its best.  While there's a few ways to profit on the concept of "free" I'm still working out some details. Personally I feel Symbiostock's growth as a network is far more advantageous than stifling its growth by giving the "Best" to only the chosen few who can afford it.

In the meantime, I'm patiently putting in the last detail on the premium upgrade. I've enjoyed watching things run stable on this forum and I don't have to tire myself out on every thread. Awesome!

Leo, it's great news that the premium upgrade is almost ready to launch. You've done a fine job on it, I'm sure, and I look forward to incorporating it into my site.

However...  if you really want to offer it for "free" (which is probably a good idea for the reasons you mentioned), then I'm going to suggest that those of us who can afford to do so make it a point to donate voluntarily for the product we'll all benefit from.

Let it be free to those who are struggling financially. Others should be encouraged to contribute. I pledge to do so.

Sounds like the stress levels have been greatly reduced which is good to hear.  I'm on board for a donation too if you go the free distribution route.  Having everyone on the premium version only helps to strengthen the concept.

Can't wait for the premium version. Really looking forward to seeing what great new features you have come up with. This will no doubt be a real shot in the arm for Symbiostock and those who may still be sitting on the fence.

Sounds like the stress levels have been greatly reduced which is good to hear.

The stress levels were due to hourly crashes while trying to develop things. Windows has a nice way of destroying your computer slowly. It works out for them since your replacement machines usually come with Windows. I think its intentional obsolescence. (I've recently heard that you can buy a new computer, install Ubuntu, and then demand a refund from Windows...legally!)

So the last week I've COMPLETELY overwritten the hard drive to 0 again, installed Ubuntu, and learned just how amazing the world outside of Windows is. Its amazing to see my older computer running like new (and faster than it was new 6 years ago) and my newer graphics computer not crashing anymore, and running much faster as well.

Also since Python is natively installed in Linux systems as well as web-server technology (they are practically the same) I'm loving life again! I *accidentally* turned my computer into a server that can be accessed on the web, whereas Windows puts you through tons of grief just setting up apache and related technologies.

Its huge things are batch operations, selling sets of images, and twitter integration. Then you have the licensing. I'm just finishing up the extended license part now, but I'm thinking of releasing it earlier and finish that part later after the test driving has been done. I'm glad people are looking forward to it.

I was thinking about selling sets as zip files but if your way would be easier then I'll hold off on my sets.

Can't wait :)

I will donate too, no doubt about it, if you choose the free path.

Also, love the new features. Cant wait for the new search option either.

I am hoping once the premium version is out, we can fix my keywords back and remove all the split up phrases.

Good to hear you are feeling more human again   ;)

You should go for a paid version but reasonable priced per user. The free version can already do everything what is necessary. Since the  beginning of my Symbiostock addiction I already spent money for Plugins, Themes etc so why not pay for the thing itself. I do forget donating easily in addition I prefer the same rules for all so same price for all....

Wont there be a split in updates as well, since you need to update the free version and the paid version separately, doubling the work. Not everyone will get the 75 dollar version, so at some point you will see a definite split in Symbiostock sites, the free ones, and the paid ones. But they still need to work together in the network.

If Leo has spent time developing this plugin, i dont see a problem with paying for it. We only buy it once.

I think that is why he is going free on it with a donation request, thus the only version will be the premium version, no?

That would make sense.

Please add me to the list of people looking forward to it ... I'm really curious.

It will take me a while to finish working on my site but I'm looking forward to these extras too.  I have no problem making a donation if I start getting some sales.  I don't like spending too much until I can see that its going to make me some money.

2 versions not necessarily needed, depending on leo's plans - the standard version would continue to update as always, while the premium would lay over it, so there would be a version 2.5.x for both

none of the announced premium features would have any effect on the networking

Here is a newby with stock; busy since begin July.
13 agencys accepted me (still busy with the 7 good ones at Shutterstock, what they accepted the first time was rejected the second time  :-\.
There were some sales and in fact I just then discovered for how much they sell and how little I receive.

Then I found Symbiostock! Hmmmmm, choosing my own photos, my own keywords and in the future my own profits, I hope.

Now to the point: I wait for that first sale to click the donatebutton.
About a free or a paid version I would say: make a win-win situation.
Just like Paypall takes its fee, there could be a Leofee as well.

Kind regards to all!

Yea, my thinking alike. I'll gladly donate from the first couple of sales. :)

Can't wait to see the Premium version. Is there an ETA yet?

Its features are complete. AJT the amazing bug hunter pointed out a few issues with licenses, so I'm addressing those today.

ETA could be this week. Technically though you could install it and have it working if you didn't mind a few minor issues with licensing. Having learned the rules quite well, even the smallest problems can get the biggest complaints, so I'm checking everything over thoroughly.
