Topic: How do you find the submission process?

Hi - I'm finding it really painful to upload to Veer (especially compared to SnapVillage) and have all but given up because of the pain of submitting.  I was wondering if others find it difficult also, or if I'm just doing something the hard way.

All is easy until I get to the prepare & submit page.  Disambiguating the keywords is really awkward and time consuming.  First, if I am submitting more than 4 or 5 images, I end up having to scroll up and down between the thumbnail and the list of keywords (since the keywords are always at the top of the page). Secondly, I can't effectively edit keywords for multiple images that share keywords from the same shoot at once. Thirdly, if none of the disambiguation choices for a word are applicable I have to delete the word, which means opening the Edit menu, finding it, and removing it.

Having to individually click on each image to see if it needs disambiguation (and having to click it again after to uncheck it) is tedious too.

Is there an easier way to get through it?  Also the acceptance rate seems pretty harsh making it difficult to justify the time and effort to submit.

I closed my account shortly after joining because their extremely low acceptance rate (for a new, unproven site) was unacceptable. I have no regrets. There are some contributors who say they've had good luck with this site, but it was a waste of time for me.

i have discovered that all you need to do is click on the "submit checked" box (after you check all) on the prepare and submit page, without having to do any keyword or title editing. of course, once you do that, you can't go back and edit anything.

if you do want to edit your keywords, i found their vocabulary expander a great keyword tool. the acceptance rate and sales are something else.

lecisco-  This is good feedback, we will be looking for ways to make the submission and editing process more efficient, so we'll take what you said into consideration.

One tip- many contributors find that it's easier keyword their images offline in a photo editing program, then submit the images with all the metadata embedded, which our system automatically reads and plugs in.  If you do it this way, you'll greatly reduce the amount of time you'll need to spend editing within your Veer Marketplace account.

hi ryan,

it's great that you're answering some questions here. i've always wondered where is the button to click to delete a photo or to edit some keywords after it's been accepted.

Editing/removing images is not currently an option we have for contributors.  If you do need to remove an image, you can email the SKU number to [email protected] and I'll take care of it.  The same goes for if you need to edit a published image- if the changes are crucial, it may bit quicker to just request the image be taken down so you can re-upload it with modifications.

Since moving to Windows 7 last fall I haven't been unable to upload anything to Veer through FTP or any programs.  I've had to move my images on flash drive to my Vista laptop and then upload, which is too much hassle.

Hi Ryan,

Great to see you here, I've got a few questions too.

1. How to upload vector -  EPS files?
I read the instructions on your site. Contributors are encouraged to upload a JPEG version to accompany the EPS file. The system is supposed to read the keywords from the JPEG file and apply them to the sister EPS file.
But it never works.
I end up having to manually add keywords, title, description to all my EPS files.
Is there a way to solve this problem?

Not to mention that JPEG preview files get later rejected for being 'too similar' with the original EPS files. But of course, they're identical.

2. Is there a way to edit/delete a file once it is pending for review?

Thank you for taking the time, much appreciated,

Hmm, I'm wondering if you may be missing one small step when uploading the JPEG previews.

The important thing is that they have the exact same file name as the EPS version (example:mycoolvector.eps, mycoolvector.jpg), and be uploaded into your account at the exact same time. If the file names are slightly different, or they are uploaded separately, the system will assume they are two unique images.
You'll know when it works, because after uploading the EPS file and it's corresponding JPEG, you will only see One file in your account, which will then be submitted to our editors for review.

It's not possible to edit or delete an image once it is in 'pending' mode.  You can send an email to [email protected] in this situation and request that the image be rejected by our editors.  It can sometimes to be tricky to 'catch' an image before an editor grabs it though, so please doublecheck before clicking 'submit', that the image is all set to go.

Ryan,

Yes, vector EPS  - exact same name as JPEG preview. I'm very careful about it.
But there's something else...
How to upload both files at the same time?
Can we even do that?

I use your browser uploader, click the 'Upload' button, select my file and watch it transferring. But it only works for a single file at a time.
Am I missing something here? Smiley

Thank you for trying to help me. It has been bothering me for a long time.

You aren't limited to only uploading single files when using the browser uploader.

After clicking the 'upload via browser' button, you'll get a pop-up box allowing you to select files from your computer to upload.  You should just be able to select as many as you like, hit 'enter', and it will take them all.

Hi Ryan, I do always upload with keywords already in the exif data.  The part I'm frustrated by is not in entering the keywords (they are read from the file properly) but in disambiguating them.  Thanks for listening and if you have any beta changes you'd like feedback on, just let me know.  I'd be happy to participate.

My apologies Eireann if I'm telling you something you already know! It took me a while to work out - so this might help someone. If you are using the browser upload method select the first file to upload then press and hold down the Control (ctrl) button on your keyboard. Then continue to click on as many further images as you want before releasing the Control button. Click on "open" and they will all upload in sequence. I tend not to go beyond 15 at a time because I use mobile broadband and it can drop out at random! In theory, though, you could click on your entire port and upload them in one hit. Good luck with your sales! Kind regards, David.
