Hi All -

Many of you have inquired about what we are working on, and when marketing is going to ramp-up.
I've posted an update with some news on our plans for Veer in 2010:

"Microstock Contributors are Central to Veer's 2010 Plans":
http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/132

Take a look. Question/comments welcome as always.

Best,

- Brian

The way we plan to do this is to make Veer simpler to use and more affordable for customers, while continuing to offer high quality content and ramp up marketing efforts.
Translated: pay decrease for contributors, stricter image requirements: get less for more.
Quote
Veer Marketplace content will now be front and center in our search results, along with RF content Veer has from macro photographers and partners.
Translated: the macro contributors will have to sell their house. Macro play time is over.

Hi Brian,

- Will the Veer marketplace images and the existing Veer RF content from macro contributors all be priced equally or will there be a tiered system.

- Will you ever sort out the FTP problem so those that want to can actually upload some images to you.

- And as mentioned above is there any chance of clarifying the part about making it "more affordable for customers", will that be at the expense of contributor commission, i.e. are we going to get less per sale.

Any plans to decrease the review pending time from, say - 1-2 weeks?

Any explaination on the dramatic reduction in both views and sales in the last 2 months ?
It's been pretty bad there.

I thought quite the opposite - that sales had increased quite well.  That said however, there really isn't enough sales there to draw any 'average' conclusions from any one portfolio.  10 sales or 20 sales is all a matter of chance, it is when we are getting 400 or 800 sales a month that we can really say anything about Veer traffic from our own sales.

Thanks for the update Brian.  It will be interesting to see how merging the two collections plays out.  I feel it should be for the better as all the customers will be presented with all the images.  May the best image sell Smiley

oh well at least someone is benefiting.

Thanks Brian for posting here, I think alot of people want veer to do well to create some competition to the top 4 and stop monolopy forming. Look forward to hopefully better result from planned changes.

Most of my sales with Veer MP seem to be from the US, so perhaps sales will increase as they do more marketing in other countries?  I will keep uploading for 2010 and wish them luck.

Same here sharpshot, over 75% comes from the US.
Thanks for the update Brian!
I think Veer is a promising site and am curious what 2010 will bring, will keep expanding my portfolio there!

One question/request; so far i don't think it's possible to see which file has sold on which date (or maybe i just havent found out how to). I like the graphs, but would love to see which file sold when for how much.

Oops, thanks so much sc!
Being dense again i assumed it would make a graph with bars instead of lines...should assume less and click more! Wink

Hi RT -

1) We'll continue to offer price points throughout spectrum of micro to macro
2) We recently pushed out a fix that may have helped some of the FTP woes. If you haven't tried in the last week or so, give it a shot. Email me directly if you are still having trouble.
3) No change in royalties

Hey Brian,

Any chance you'll be offering raster versions of the vectors for sale?

I haven't posted in a while but I thought this would be interesting enough. I spoke to Veer Nairn Nerland the GM of Veer.com to get some more info and he answered a couple of questions.

The change effectively ends the distinction between Micro and RF and marks the end of RF as we know it (at least on Veer). Images can move up and down the priceband. This means that clients will ultimately see a mix of micro and rf as single offering. http://www.fastmediamagazine.com/?p=3660
