Just reveived the Yay newsletter and find that Yuri is now putting 20,000 images there. I wonder why he waited so long?

Maybe he was waiting for them to offer some good money to do so. It's not unusual for a big player to be offered financial inducements to upload to a new agency.

Just wait for him to come in now and tell us all how great they are like he did with Crestock ;)

Seems to me that current directions on the web are all about service, not content. Yay's original pitch was that they had developed a site free of all the shortcomings of the current sites - poor upload process, lousy search, senseless rejections etc. They weren't promising new content, just better service and there have been plenty of industries where this has been a significant point of difference.

That is a possibility I feel - he is also over at Photo Society! http://www.photosociety.eu/

If you were in Yay's position wouldn't you? Whether you like it or not Yuri is a brand in his own right.

Retailers are largely full of the same stuff too __ for example the electrical retailers where I live all seem to have TVs by Sony, Samsung, Panosonic, etc, etc. The truth is there's almost always a relatively small number of producers of stuff intended to appeal to a world-wide market. Why should microstock be so very different?

True.

And I wonder if other sites do that too.  Gimmestock - if it may even spend money on this - a while ago was getting uploads from some of these big names (Andresr, Dashek, Forgiss, someone of this level).

So, did it work ? Gimmestock with big names . Did it result with you getting more sales or just more sales for these big names?

Back to jslocke's comment, I don't think he was meaning to say anything bad about Yuri, but more that the only thing it added to Yay was just that, an endorsement  with no blanket advantage to the general contributors.  At least that how I interprete Sean's comment. It wasn't to slight Yuri .

Yes, I don't particularly see it as anything that would draw people to the site.  It isn't like you can't get the 20,000 images or whatever anywhere else.

Oh c'mon sjocke jumps on any thread that presents itself to take a dig at Yuri, it's beyond obvious...

I would imagine that Sean gets annoyed about Yuri always being hailed as the most successful microstock contributor when in fact Sean as a one man show is probably much more successful profit wise.  I have a lot of respect for Yuri's achievements but I have even more respect for Sean's.

Sorry, I met Yuri at ugcx.  He's a nice guy.  Although I might not particularly agree with his business model.

Hey that is great for Yuri and I am happy for him.

My questions to Yay-Yay: Where are the buyers! When are you going to focus  on buyers? How many buyers is Yuri bringing with Him? Yay-Yay forgot that contributors need downloads!

I only sold one download in one year with Yay. Thousands on SS, DT, BS, and FT!

Yay=Yay is just another Micro-Stock, "A Johnny come Latey that is going set the world on fire." If you can't shoot, if you can't review, open onther get rich Mirco-Stock Agency.
