Title: 100, 200, 300 MB sales
Post by: nicku on January 03, 2012, 05:01
I wonder how many contributors sell 100, 200 or 300 MB files on 123RF? How frequently are those type of sales??

I contribute to 123RF since April 2007 and now have around 2.500 photos online. In almost five years with them I had exactly one 100MB sale, non at all for 200 or 300MB.

I have no idea how representative this data is, as the number of my ELs seems to be sub-par on other sites, too...

Just 1 100 MB and I have only 350 files over there since June 2011. And I'm OK with that since they pay the lowest royalites in the industry, only 13,3%. I'd opt out if I could

Nope, here's my cut from 100 MB TIFF which costs 150 credits:
100MB    200MB    300MB  Downloads    Date    Total Earned (USD)

1    0    0    1    July 19, 2011    17.200

So if 1cr=1$ we get paid even less than I said, we get 11%. So I guess IS is not the worst possible agency in every single way as some think and are (constantly) saying over here ;)

That's something completely different. I got paid 43.5$ the last time, if I remember correctly

I think that the 50% cut applies only to the image sale and a portion of that 150 credits is paying for some third party to upsize the image. I can't imagine why anyone ever pays to have this done, but apparently if the buyer thinks they need it and can't do it themselves, there's a market for it?

So I think the image credits (whatever they are) were priced at $34.40 and the remainder was the fee for upsizing.

The CEL paying $42 would mean $84 for 100 credits which matches (roughly) the 1200 credits for $1,000 package. That seems fine. As I mentioned in the other thread about inmagine sales, it's not the 50% that bothers me but what it's multiplied by that's a problem (in my case I wasn't happy that inmagine which is 123rf's owner gets a distributor cut on the $10 value10 sales from inmagine, leaving 123rf contributors with 50% of $8 instead of the $10 sales price)

a long time ago I was wondering about that too, very weird but hell why not :D

I stand corrected. It was 43.50. I was ballparking it and had to go look to be sure.

Yeah well, that's probably what they'd say to us if they were pressed. I doubt any agency would give up almost 90% of the revenue. It just make no sense, seeing them making cuts etc all the time (not them particularly but agencies in general).

I am sure they will show up here to discuss this matter, 123RF has great communication :)

I remember reading a thread regarding this matter a few months ago. They didn't respond at the time, so I don't have much faith in them replying now. And even if they will, they won't really answer any questions (we intrested in).

0 x 100MB,200MB & 300MB

As said before there is unlikely to be much demand for this service as its really expensive and unnessary for majority of users.

Hi All,

100 mb, 200mb, 300mb sales -- I remembered we have a thread about this the last time. But roughly here goes:

We pay 20 credits, 40 credits and 60 credits for the sizes respectively.

These are full credits, not the usual 50% cut deal :)

Thanks very much.

Alex.

Hi All,

Sales of these file sizes are few and far in between and to date we don't have any "2 orders for the same size" happening.

We also had a sale for these up sizes in September - we paid the same rates, 20, 40, and 60 but not much demand generated from the reduction in prices. So we reset it to the current levels.

Thank you.

Alex.

Yes, but you charge the buyers 150,300 and 450. So it's a really bad deal for both contributors and the buyers. You should close the gap, I think it would help a lot;)

Yes, we do charge that much.

In our last "IES promo" we dropped the prices

from 150 to 120
from 300 to 180
from 450 to 230

We didn't see any increase in purchases, nor did we see any increase in higher resolutions being purchased.

So the prices remained. If there is a demand, we'll cater to it.

Thank you very much.

Alex
