OMG, does anyone still upload to 123??
I cant imagine that!!

Since they got their new "design" (which looks like the last place in a contest on a second-class design school) they went down the gutter as fast as they could.

Do you sometimes look to the frontend of agencies where you sell your stuff??
I do ..and what i see makes me wonder how they could find people who still buys over their website.
Probably no one and all cash comes from API-sales.

Just one horrible example amongst many !!!:
http://www.123rf.com/stock-footage/  (and now click on the so called "Categorie" Beauty and remember - 123RF calls that a category and not just a simple keywordsearch)
Just watch the first line.....thats horrible material. Specialy the "flower girl"...we were laughing our a** off.....how can one do such weird stuff??
How can  reviewers be so blind??

Now click on random!
Do a browserrefresh!
Whats the random on it?

Did you see the fabolus descriptions?
Oh Boy

Click on "Most Downloaded"
Whats all that crazy stuff doing in that category?
"Hei, my cat is beautyful - lets put it in "Beauty", and oh....i have a beautyful piece of barbwire leftover -lets put that in "Beauty" too....

and now for the final click on "latest" (but have a drink before)

Thats the complete opposite of beauty and i have no idea how that crap made its way in an stockagency

I have seen a lot of strange things in my life but thats a new level of ***********
Compared to that person who accepted these weird things all SS reviewers are highly skilled professional trained art-specialists.

I need a big high-procentage drink now....

I can't comment on the look of their buyer side; I'm not a buyer.  But as an agency I have only good things to say about them.  My earnings there continue to grow; 123rf is my #2 earner and only a few percentage points behind Shutterstock this month.  Obviously somebody is buying there, and probably a lot of somebodies if my sales are anything to go by.

Not for me!
I dont want to have my stuff surrounded by such a big amount of lousy work, embeded in even worse coded environment.
I like it much more to be in a agency with other good artists than to standout because the rest is crap.
Although the situation in 123 increased my earnings.

If whores go where the money is than I am a major whore! This whore needs to pay the rent and feed his family.

I agree 100% with Massimo. 123's contributor setup looks like it was designed by a wannabe web designer that will never be.
How much cr@p do I have to swim through before I can see my earnings? HELLO! 123! Have you ever heard of a homepage that has all the info you need to know with one click?  Could you make the experience anymore cumbersome, sloppy and amateurish?
And as far as sales go 123 is my only agency that stagnates in sales. Same number of sales this year as last yet twice as many images. I never compare contributor with contributor. You're doing well? Great. For me, as with all the other agencies I deal with, if I contribute, sales should grow. If not, abandon ship and try another agency. And BTW I'll never pull my images. Let the sales trickle in. Too much time and energy has been applied to wipe the slate clean. But as far as growing my portfolio with 123....no thanks.

You seem to be confusing Microstock with art

I don't have Ron's energy for detective work so just have to say that criticising other people's work is marginally acceptable when someone has the gonads to show his own - anonymously it's really not on

I have no complaints about 123 at all.  September and October were both BMEs there for me, and they are the only site on which I had any BMEs this year.  Whatever they are doing, it is resulting in a lot more sales.  That's all I care about.

While they get downloads, I find them frequently disappointing on RPD - my port has certainly seen better days on 123RF!

No complains here... I prefer a steady-selling agency that could improve it looks, rather than the hipster, smooth and funky ones which sell nothing. But that's just me.

Do you seriously think that's an apt reply? I just supressed an answer to it, that includes male private parts and something babies do with their mom's tits... as a means of solving your problems after you categorized yourself. :)

When comparing 2012 to 2013 I see no growth in sales and a decrease in revenue.

actually I'm ok at being a standout because everything else is crap. :)
My December was not good at 123, but it's all swings and roundabouts.

So, in other words, you don't want to stand out from the crowd, and you'd rather have strong competitors stealing sales from you?

123 seems clunky, awkward and demanding to me - am I still meant to prioritise pictures I want to promote in the search? I don't know, it's too much hassle to mess about with, not knowing whether it makes any difference at all. I get a steady return from it, though not the growth some have noted, so that's OK, but I think they might do better if they were more on-the-ball.  If the buyer side is, indeed, hiding the better stuff and promoting poor stuff, then the site might benefit from taking a critical look at how it is organising its search. So I see the OP as possibly being constructive criticism, rather than just a rant.

Search results are often like burying diamonds with coal. Way too much faith is placed in algorithms by all of the agencies, ultimately it makes for a very bland experience for everyone. Creativity gets diluted with volume hoping some crap will stick and clients get tired of seeing the same crap.

123RF is no different to any other agency.
