I just got an email from 123RF that states the following:
"We have recently increased our daily download limit for our premium subscription from the previous 20 to 26 downloads per day. Some of you may remember that we normally pay our contributors using a complex formula that splits 50% of the subscription revenue per download for a given month. As a result, in some months the pay out will be higher and in other months, lower. Thankfully, for the recent previous months, the payout has been stable at $0.35.
"What's the worry?", you ask! Well, without going into specifics, under the old formula - as the number of downloads increase, the payout rate will decrease.
We would like to inform you that to protect your earnings for the future and the present, effective July 1, 2007, we will set the download payout rate to contributors at $0.36 per download, which is 20% higher than our nearest competitor :-)
Now that's another thing you don't have to worry about, isn't it?
Congratulations on the raise from a $0.30 to $0.36 per download! You deserve it!"
So it seems that the dynamic subscription pricing has now changed to a static price of 0.36
What do you think about this?

It is higher than under the dynamic model but I kind of liked the idea of sharing the spoils.

yah....but by sharing the spoil...it can go either way...up or down....i think they just want to managed the disappointment when it goes down...u know people are happy when it goes up but when it goes down...complains come......pre-empt ;)

I like the static price. And, hey, who knows, it may go up again in the future, so thats still okay with me. What I thought was funny was that this change was effective July 1, 2007 and they send us out an email on August 1. Think maybe they just made a mistake and meant August, or are they really that slow?

Sounds good to me. I'm going to resume uploading to 123. Was debating which one to focus on next between 123 and BigStock but the fact is that BS really gives me the shits with their image processing, things like their categories, unnecessary but compulsory seven word descriptions etc So staying away from BS for now.
