Hey everyone,

I just want to see what you guys think about this scenario at 123RF:

Well as we all know its becoming one of the slower sites and, for me anyways, a bother to keep uploading to.  So I asked Mimi at 123 to contact me to discuss taking my pictures out and cashing out my $8.80 that I have on there since that site is a complete waste of time for me (no FTP, that stupid Java uploader makes my computer type funny when its on).

So it took her 2 days to get back to me, but I responded quickly - within the hour - and she hasn't gotten back to me yet - its been almost 3 days.

Now I know they are busy but I'm going to assume that they do not want to cash people out and give them their money so easily.  On my part its only $8.80 and I don't really care if its through Paypal or cheque or whatever, so I don't see why its proving to be such a hassle to take my photos off their site.

Any input is appreciated....I want to make sure that I'm not off the wall on this one.....as well, if anyone knows how to do a professional portrait mask (so that I can change the background when its difficult to isolate, I'd love to know how to do that)

You can remove the photos off of their site by yourself.

As far as the payout is concerned, I would be very surprised if they gave it to you, since it states the minimum payout in their TOS.

you have that problem with the java uplaoder too?  I thought it was only me.  It also happens with canstock.  When i try and type (while the java uploader is in use) the letters go on the screen but the cursor moves back and forth so all of a sudden there is 4 letters AFTER the cursor, and my words are mess.  Very annoying.

I have no such problem with either uploader, and I use Netscape.

I'm not sure if you don't have the right to cash out the money if you leave the site.  Maybe discussing this in a private email with them would make it easier.

123RF is not bad for me, although it isn't outstanding either.  Mostly I get subscription sales, but the number (and earnings!) of individual sales is very significant too (50% in $).  But I'm still growing my portfolio (only 55 images there) and I hope it can be a good site for me.

Regards,
Adelaide

I must admit I haven't noticed any wierd delayed typing while using 123rf java uploader.

I won't be opting out any time soon as with their leinent acceptance policy images that don't get a chnace elsewhere have the chance to earn a few cents.

I noticed they now post the subscription payout per image on the earning screen and it was 27c again last month.

Downloads have been good this week for subscriptions 6 yesterday and 14 the day before but then I have 1149 images so I should be getting more.

I was recently surprised 123rf recently rejected for "minimal commercial value" a series of photos that I did based on that type of photo selling well on other sites - very strange.

A pity they don't lower their payout to $50 or $60 bucks though I would still have to wait a few weeks.

Interesting you mention this. I had 100% acceptance there until recently when they rejected four images for that reason. I was kind of surprised that they rejected them. The four in question are selling quite well on shutterstock. They're even doing well on istock were I didn't think they would.
