Post by: alex123rf on April 12, 2010, 04:42
Hi Contributors,

I'm trying to reach out to our Russian contributors, can those of you who are well versed in Russian help me review some translations, kindly email me at [email protected]. I'll send you an Excel file for reviewing.

I'll be very grateful for your help!

Sounds like you can't afford a pro.

No - they do have translations (presumably pro) but want them validated by native speakers. It's much better approach IMO compared with some other sites who made very poor translations.

So, native speakers aren't worth paying some money for their time?

Quite frankly, I can't imagine a *professional* translation agency asking for photographic freebies from language pros who are "well versed in photography"... Just FYI, decent EN > RU editing rates start at ca. EUR 35.00 per hour.

Alex didn't say 123RF won't pay for translations. He just  said he will be very grateful.

Alex, I speak Russian, but if you need a native speaker, than you have to wait for someone else to contact you.

What we do is a closed tender.

We ask several agencies to quote, and then we send them a sample for them to translate. Since none of us here at 123RF can speak Russian, we ask our community to help rate the translation.

We then award the job to the best person with the best translation rating as well as the best price.

Thanks to everyone who offered to help. I appreciate it!
