Just saw three large sales come in, and happened to check the file detail page (http://www.123rf.com/photo_7611716_wedge-tail-eagle-in-full-flight-on-blue-sky-with-copy-space.html) to see this..

Promotional price valid until March 31, 2013

(bit hard to display here, but the largest 2 sizes have been dropped by 1 credit each)

Did anyone know that our already low large sizes were being cut again for a month???

And also, on a different note, was there always a "ML" size available between Medium and Large, or is that new?

Maybe this is part of the grand plan to grow business when they promised us last year they would grow the business to the point that we would not notice the cut to royalties?

Thanks guys...

Just ducky...

No contributor newsletter telling us about this? They're probably afraid of blowback, but in another era perhaps contributors might have helped to promote a reasonable deal to their buyer/designer friends, so one way or another, keeping us informed seems like a good idea.

I did check the blog, but other than a super-cheesy Easter Bunny composite, there was nothing about the promo.

I guess that explains the 72 cent royalty I received on an XL sale - at 45% royalty and only 4 credits instead of 5, that's the minimum per credit price of 40 cents (18 cents a credit to me). Discounted prices plus discounted credit levels = contributor gets a pittance.

The XXL size is 5 credits instead of 6 during this promotion. The TIFF XXL remains the same at 10 credits as do all the ELs.

I guess we all agreed to these practices in our contracts, that the agency can use our content for promotional purposes at discounted rates...

Nonetheless, a good stock agency would practice some communication about this with its contributors just to give everyone a heads up and stay transparent about what's going on.

We're not asking for business secrets, just what the current promotions are etc...

The promotion is part of a pricing system change that is explained in our March newsletter which will be sent out soon, but we would like to clear the air beforehand so that you will have a better idea of it.

RIGHT!  ??? (that is why it is UP before telling us)

Hey All,

The promotion is part of a pricing system change that is explained in our March newsletter which will be sent out soon, but we would like to clear the air beforehand so that you will have a better idea of it.

This was 123RF's previous image price list:
  • S size: 1 credit
  • M size: 2 credit
  • L size: 3 credit
  • XL size: 4 credit
  • XXL size: 5 credit

However, with the introduction of the new "ML size", we've made a following adjustments:

  • S size: 1 credit
  • M size: 2 credit
  • ML size: 3 credit
  • L size: 4 credit
  • XL size: 5 credit
  • XXL size: 6 credit

As you can see, all current prices of L size and above are to be sold at an additional 1 credit. In order to address the changes in prices to our client, we are offering them the ability to get the images at the old price before its final implementation, we've decided to run a promotion campaign until the end of March.

I hope this clears confusions you might have, and do feel free to PM me if you require any further clarification.

Regards,
Anglee

Hey anglee,

Thanks for commenting on this, it's appreciated.

It would  have been nice to get that newsletter perhaps before the change was made to put our minds to rest. Contributors are edgy these days with all the changes/cutbacks at agencies!

Also, I wholeheartedly support a price rise for the larger sizes, good move there.

Just a question - how does this ML size factor in to your RC system for contributors? How many RC's does it equal for us?

Thanks again.

Anglee,

Thanks for the update.

Know the timing on site changes and newsletters/press releases/MSG comments is hard, but all over microstock it feels like nobody is looking out for contributors but us, so its easy for us to get worked up.

More transparency is a good thing.  :D

Hey Microstock Man,

The RC requirements will remain in effect.

With the introduction of ML size, all current RC of L size and above will gain an additional 1 credit as such
  • ML: 3 RC
  • L: 4 RC
  • XL: 5 RC
  • XXL: 6 RC

Cheers,
Anglee

Anglee,

Can you please get rid of the RC system?

Thanks.

I just signed up for 123RF. Should I not bother...? Are the earnings very low?

Prices are still on the very low end after this change. That was acceptable with a flat 50% commission, but with the lowered royalty percentages 123RF is becoming unsustainable.
