How many of you have received the nice email saying "your images are trending", telling you your CTR is in the top 10%, and you should submit more images to sit there without selling, until the end of time?

I did - and I had no sales for 2 months...  ::)

I was just about to start a topic on this. I received the e-mail this morning too.

I thought it must be a come-on - trying to get me to upload again as I haven't for ages as sales had been in the toilet - or CTR had nothing to do with sales at all.

I had a brief return to "normal" in January, but since then things at Alamy have stopped again.

Same here. CTR must have nothing at all to do with sales if mine are anything to go by.

As far as I know CTR only considers the number of zooms in relation to views. So, for you to receive that e-mail it means that you must have a high number of zooms (images clicked after showing up in a search) when compared to the number of views.

A good CTR is good for the Alamy rank, which places your images closer to the first page of results and gives you better chances of sales, although real sales have a bigger impact on this ranking.

No such email ever, even last July when my CTR was waaay higher than normal. (Even fewer sales afterwards, though).

Same here. I'm "trending" in some top 10%, but my last sale was on January 22nd.

My images are not trending even as I had sale few days ago :( No email...

To be serious it's a little bit worrying that so many people with poor sales (or complaining) get info they are in 10%. That means sales must be really bad in whole agency, am I correct?

I had 4 sales on January and 4 more on February and guess what? My images are not trending  :) I didn't receive the email...

I've got this email, too. My ~250 portfolio generated 3 sales in 2013, 0 sales in 2014 and 1 sale in 2015. In the same time about 2000 sales from a bit smaller porfolio in SS.

Or it could have erroneously been sent to the wrong people.
My 85 yo Mum got a letter from her bank telling her that as she had not filled in a form (tax witholding one I had just filled in for Getty) she would need to pay tax to the US Govt. This is someone who falls below the UK tax payment bracket and has no dealings with the US, nor is her bank a subsidiary of a US bank. My first thought was 'scam', but in fact it was sent by her bank, but in error.

I'm not sure whether it could be a serious attempt to push people to submit more - we do tend to notice the odd sales we get here, so would notice if we were suddenly 'trending'.
Strangely, I don't see any thread about this over here, unless they've been deleted.

I think that too, it must be error only. No explanations from me.

It could be an error, but not necessarily. If I have 1000 views and get 10 zooms because I have a specific theme on my portfolio that has little competition or someone really liked some of my photos on a subject, that will give me a CTR of 1. Global Alamy CTR is 0.53.

It's just a case of having a small portfolio and the luck of someone zooming a bunch of images.

My sales in 2014 were about 25% of 2013.   So yes, I'm trending.  Straight down.

I think the email was probably just a mistake that's best forgotten.

I got this email too.  Must be an error. 0 sales in over a year and 4 zooms in 9 months.

And just think - you're in the top 10%!   The bottom 10% must be mummy dust.   :-)

Interesting.  I have hade steady sales too and did not get the trending email.

I got it to, and it says our click through rate - not sales rate. So I guess a lot of people are looking at our pictures without buying them ;)
Anyway, I was thinking they just sent out this mail to everyone to get more pictures... :)

When an agency has images of mine that I know sell (from experience elsewhere) and they can't sell them, I don't bother to keep supplying them. What would get me to resume uploads to Alamy is more sales at Alamy.

Its NOT an error! The email is about CTR/zooms - not sales.

My current CTR is 1.23 vs the Alamy average of 0.53. I did notice a rise in zooms for the last 2 months - they have just not translated in sales yet... hopefully  ;)

Got the email as well.  If I'm in the top 10% of anything, it certainly has not translated into more sales lately.

We got the e-mail, too. With one zoom this month. And just barely above average CTR since October. I think any zooms at all on Alamy must put you in the top 10% CTR. Have only had one lifetime sale on that site, in November 2014.

Nope, I have pretty many zooms and it's not working ;)  Even with CTR above 1.xx

Got the email, too,
If I recall right, 12 zooms this month that make for a CTR of 1.10 for the better of my 2 pseudos. Only 4 sales this year, though.
