Alamy adding FTP upload option?

(1/1)

ichiro17:
I've heard news that Alamy plans to add an internet uploading option.  What do people think of this?  Are people going to join/add more photos?  What do you guys think?

I know its gonna entice me to try it out.

i am a submitter at alamy, and i think it is a good plan.  They will be accepting jpg images then, so it won't take THAT long to submit.  I know i have lots of images sitting on my hard drive for months because it is hard to get around to sending a disk, and also i feel like i need a certain number of images before it is worth the bother.

I have been looking forward to the ftp'ing for a long time.

leaf:
it had just better be a ftp system, and not a web based system...

I'm sure you got the same newsletter I got, but another interesting note is that they plan on not accepting CD/DVDs anymore.  So everyone will have to submit online.  Since it will be their only submission method I'm sure they will take the time to make it as easy as possible.  That will also mean they will probably change their quality control method.  It used to be they would spot check your DVD, but with uploading enable I can't imagine the same system working.  People will tend to upload in much smaller batches more fequently.  I'm extremely curious as to how they are going to implement it.

I haven't yet submitted anything to Alamy but if they implement an ftp upload then I am sure I will. This could be very good news.
