I got 3 listed, Does anyone know if Alamy is taking 60% of DACS that they collect now?  If so I should figure out how to apply for it myself, for 3 figures I can spend a few hours applying.

"Q. I don’t understand clause 28 of the contract
A. This clause confirms we can claim a share of royalties for secondary uses of your images from collecting societies such as DACS. We will pay you a 50% share of these royalties after recouping our administration charges of around £1 per claim."

From https://www.alamy.com/contributor/faqs/most-frequently-asked-questions/?section=9 (https://www.alamy.com/contributor/faqs/most-frequently-asked-questions/?section=9)

My total this year was $33.11 (in two separate line items; not sure why). The money would have to be much more for me to want to set the calendar reminders and spend time filling out the paperwork. I think a 50% share plus £1 per claim is pretty outrageous (I could see a minimum for administration fees, but to take a flat fee plus 50% takes chutzpah, IMO), but I'm not motivated to take on the task of applying

Puts me over $50 cleared which means I'll get paid next month.

I never let Alamy anywhere near DACs I begrudge them taking any further cash.

My DACs was £400+ this year or around $564+

Its goes some way toward recouping the 20% paycut they gave us

I am sorry, can anyone fill me in about this DACS bussiness? I am a bit confused. I know what DACS is, at least the basic concept, but I thought it was only for UK citizens and also don't think I got this on Alamy before.
I have listed DACS payments  listed as "cleared", yet the amount was not added to my account balance, as far as I can tell?

thanks, Maybe each time they list it is a separate "claim" so they can hit you for another pound...

re: Firn above, I am pretty sure it is for uses in the UK, not just UK citizens. in the past I have always been paid the money eventually. Their accounting reporting certainly isn't clear or obvious but other than balances that have never cleared has always added up eventually.

But in this case the amount is already listed as "cleared", but hasn't been added to the sum of my cleared balance.   :-\

My "Current Cleared Balance" - as shown on the dashboard - has increased by the amount of the DACS payment. Possibly some sort of bug? My balance was about $1 under the threshold; shame they waited until after November 1 to post the DACS money :)

You could wait a day or two or write to support - I think only they can tell why.

Okay, thank you.
My current cleared balance has also increased today, but not by the amount of the DACS payments (also not by 50% of it, as, if I am corrct that's what Alamy pays? Correct me if I am wrong, this DACS things is really new to me)  and with Alamy's delay of clearing sales and a lot of not cleared sales on my account I don't know where exactly that money came from.

I had taken this to mean 1 pound per person per year.  Not 1 pound for every usage.  That would seem crazy expensive to me.
I got $16 for DACS TV usage which I don't claim directly because Alamy has this info.  I can't get it here in Canada.  I too got about $550 for the rest, so it is definitely worth your while to claim yourself.  But I think it may be too late for you. Once Alamy claims for you your stuck and can't back out anymore.

I presume that is it for this year, but maybe next year I can claim it myself. I should set myself a reminder.

If you make an account with DACS they will send you several reminders.

Before I contact Alamy, can someone please take a look at this and tell me whether there is something I just don't understand?
How much of the amount that is listed as DACS payment should have been added to my balance? Half of it or is the shown amount already 50% of what Alamy collected? Are these two seperate payments that should both have been added to my account balance?
None of these were added to my account's cleared balance, even though they are listed as "cleared". One doesn't appear anywhere, the other is listed under "Balance carried forward", which I don't understand. Why is it carried forward (into the next month?) instead of being added to my balance now?

I am very confused about all of this, but I don't want to bother Alamy support if everything is alright and I just do not understand it.

You should go to your contributor dashboard, then go to "Download sale report" (right from where current clear balance shows), then select date range and then "invoice". I find this report much easier to navigate

You are misreading the balance statement.
The two amounts you mentioned earlier ($138.97 and $124.22) are NOT your DACS payments.

The DACS payments are listed in the "Credit" column, in your case 14,75 and 0,08.

In the "Balance" column you find the total balance of your account after the corresponding line has been added.

Looks all correct to me.

Ah, thank you, I think now I finally understand. Very confusing though. I was wondering about this high amount, because Alamy is not an agency that performs well for me.  ;D Now it makes sense.

I claim mine directly. However:

For sure, Alamy will have more details and will know exactly which sales can be claimed, plus they might (?) even get ISBNs from the buyers (I have no idea).

Another unknowable, but it could be the case, is that Alamy could put in all claims as a bulk, thus getting into a higher payment band, then divvying that higher payment pro rata.

Just a note and I don't know if anyone else mentioned it, Alamy DACS pays by bank transfer. Last time I collected for myself I got almost nothing, because of the fees. (Ignore the quotes of this, I typed Alamy by mistake when I meant DACS)

Yes, they could find more, but then they take 50% (or something?) so I get less. BUT... if I have to pay the bank fees, and I don't have as much data, then, it's possible, they are getting me more, the same or maybe less.  ;)

After filing myself the first two years and seeing what I found and got, I'm happy being a Sloth and happy letting Alamy make money from my sales. I have no factual way to know exactly how much I might have made, filing myself. I do know the numbers are close to what I netted, on my own. I mean within $5, I'm not concerned.

I get paid via PayPal. Would have prefered bank transfer, at least before Brexit, because there would not have been any bank transfer fees for me then (unlike with paypal) , but it didn't work. I didn't get paid at all in the beginning and upon asking what was up with that they claimed my bank data was incorrect and the money was returned, but no matter how often I double- and triple- checked, by bank data was correct (I always paste it from a document on my computer anyways, to make sure there are no typos), so I could not offer them any different "correct" bank data and had to switch to PayPal.  :-\

DACS, sorry, TYPO/Senior Moment = DACS, they only pay by bank transfer. Alamy pays me by Paypal.

Another possible loss for me would be, I doubt if Alamy claims my SS or AS license sales.
