Title: Alamy - What images to send (exclusive?)
Post by: Rage on May 22, 2016, 13:48
Hi everyone

Been trying my hand at Alamy for some time but with very little luck. So though I might need some advise on what goes where

1. Do I send them my regular MS portfolio? the one on SS, IS and all others (it is RF right)
2. I think editorial goes into RM with them, so does this need exclusive new images
3. I heard travel does well with them, if so then do you guys pick images from your shoot specifically for Alamy?

Looking forward to getting my first few bucks on Alamy. Thanks

1. If you want to, you can. But what counts as a person and therefore ATM can only be RM is stricter than most micros, and you can't send a file/similar RM if you have it RF elsewhere.

2. RM doesn't have to be exclusive to Alamy, but as above, any file you're submitting can't be on/have a similar anywhere else as RF.

3. I can't work out why my files sell - or don't sell! - other than it happened to be what someone needed at the time. It all seems very random from my port. Others might have different experience. All my files are only on Alamy, and all are RM. However, Alamy doesn't require RM exclusivity, you can have the same files elsewhere as RM.

4. Alamy is planning to offer RF-editorial   :o.
AFAIK, they haven't announced when this will be or any other details as of now. (If anyone knows otherwise, could they post a link, please?)

Thanks Sue, so I'll upload a bunch of non editorial images to Alamy from my SS collection and hope they don't tag them as RM. Will remove any that get changed from RF to RM.

Since the only other RM place i have is Getty (which needs exclusively) so all the RM will have to be unique

You set them as RM or RF. Actually, files designated RF are 'hybridly' sold - a buyer can choose a non- exclusive RM licence (usually cheaper) or RF. (Check out any RF files to see what I mean.)
